Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Hopefully things weren't so awkward before. Maybe things ended up well. Maybe, just maybe, you ended up meeting someone special.

Or you took your shirt off because Layla Miller convinced you it was destiny. But she's a damn dirty liar and well know it.

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here.]

"You're welcome," Christian told her, recognizing thanks when he saw them. "I'm a writer, so any literary name ... they all speak to me."

He ran a hand over his hair, a bit fussily. "I suppose I'll see you around campus."

A bit of worry crossed Ariel's brow, wondering if that last bit was conversational or sort of dismissing, and she couldn't help thinking oh, not again! But she knew it had to be difficult to carry a conversation all on one's self.

But still, she nodded, perhaps with a little too much enthusiasm, because, yes, he would see her around campus, if she was lucky and they could you know...

...well, not talk, but...

Christian wasn't intending to be dismissive, it was just hard to keep talking when the other party wasn't talking back. He wasn't entirely certain Ariel's continued silence wasn't meant as a polite dismissal, and he didn't want to keep her overlong.

But the vigorous nod gave him hope.

"Fantastic. I'll read you some of my poetry!" he offered.

Sadly, this was not a euphemism.

Which was a shame, because Ariel imagined that Christian had a huge talent.

Poetry, though! Ariel wasn't entirely sure if she was a big fan of poetry, but she supposed she could be a fan of poetry if she wanted. She looked very impressed, blue eyes wide and expressing that she'd love to hear some of his poetry.

She hoped.

She really, really hoped.

She was entirely likely to get her wish, from the way Christian's wide blue eyes were sparkling back at her and the doofy smile on his face. "I'll see you later," he said ... but wasn't actually in such a rush to get anywhere. "I'm in 402, in the dorms. Where are you?"

D'awwww. That smile was just about the cutest thing ever. Kind of like Flounder cute. It was impossible not to smile back, and she got a room number! Those were important, after all, or so she'd lead herself to believe. She added 402 to the hopefully remembered lexicon for later, before holding up her hands and gesturing out the familiar numbers with her fingers. Five. One. Seven!

"517," Christian repeated, finally turning to go for real with his heart fluttering away in his chest. "Just one flight apart."

Ariel wasn't sure she knew what that meant, but it sounded like a good thing, so she was smiling at Christian even as she turned. 402, she repeated in her brain. Would definitely have to remember that. Christian seemed a little nervous; again, she couldn't help a slight comparison to Flounder, but he was cute, and, really, she needed to keep track of all her options here.
