Rilla, dressed from her hat down to her smart little leather boots, came over to Kate and murmured, "I'm so sorry to tell you this, but I think you must have torn your skirt rather badly. It's mostly missing."

She was almost painfully earnest.

"Huh?" Yeah, a statement like that wasn't going to get an actual answer straight away. Kate looked down, then back at the other girl. "...Uh, no. This is what it's supposed to look like."

Another look at the girl, and-- "Oh. This is how we dress here. Sorry."

Kate smirked. "Well, it's a good thing Miss Cornelia--" Whoever that was. "--isn't here right now, isn't it?"

"Very," Rilla agreed. "I wouldn't have lasted five minutes on this island under her supervision. I would already be heading back to the ship that brought me." She blushed. "Oh, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Rilla Blythe."

"Kate Gregson," Kate replied, nodding, with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Rilla. So where did your ship bring you from? And, uh, from when?"

Her eyes pleaded with Kate not to find her crazy.

After talking to Christian, Kate didn't really trust the other fake sibs to do their jobs properly.
