Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of ~~moddable~~ snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

Well...Ariel had picked, so it was up to Del to make the presentations.

"Oh, um, well...Hi!" Yeah, that seemed the proper thing to do. "She is Ariel and, um, I'm Delirium and, eh..., um, well...we are sort of lost?"

...Where they?

Alex waited for something else to happen before he prompted, "...and? You want me do something about that? I'm not a tour guide."

And...

Del turned to Ariel. "Ah, right. The rooms?" But he had just said he wasn't a guide, so maybe they shouldn't bother? "How do we, um, get there? Is there, a, eh, well maybe some guidebutnotyoubecauseyouarenotaguide."

"Rooms? What, the dorms?" Alex asked, trying to decipher what the hell these two wanted. "You're looking for the dorms? Didn't anyone give you a map?"

No, of course not. He hadn't gotten a map either but that wasn't going to stop his jerkish tendencies.

Ariel's nose wrinkled a little, feeling a little bummed that she'd totally picked this one wrong. She shook her head. Nope. No maps. And she tried to look cute, because, really, who could be such a jerk to two such adorable girls? Really?

Maybe this was finally the type of human her father had warned her about. That would not be cool, because she didn't like the idea of her father being right.

Ariel was just lucky that Alex dealt with Effy on a fairly regular basis and knew how to work around people that didn't wanna talk. Alex kept staring at the two of them, trying to figure out what they wanted him to do.

"What? Do you want me to point it out or something?" he finally asked. "If you're lost and you're standing in front of me telling me that, you have to elaborate more or I'm just going to assume you're bored and wanting to entertain me with your new student ways."

This was starting to get complicated.

"There should be, um...maps. With shiny colors. And sounds." That would be really helpful. "Um, sorry?"

Alex stared at them both again. "I'm not a fucking suggestion box either. Why are you telling me this?"

Ariel's arms folded in front of her and she gave the boy a very distinct look that said they were telling him this because they didn't think he was a total jerk. It was a simple question, really...

It was just asked by a mute mermaid and a crazy person.

DETAILS.

Alex pinched the bridge of his nose. Hard. "If you are lost, what do you want me to do about it? I don't have a map and I'm not holding your hand to take you to the dorms. Just follow the fucking crowd of people when the picnic ends."

"Oh. Um...Alright."

Yeeeeah, maybe they were better off following someone else. Turning to Ariel, she gave her an inquisitive glance. Were they done there?
