Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II
The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.
So... yeah.
Enjoy!
[Please wait for the OCD is up! This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here and there is more room for mingling here.]
So... yeah.
Enjoy!

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
She wasn't even sick of having to gesture, which she did again, one hand to her throat with a helpless shrug to help the girl know that she couldn't talk, and then a point to her ARIEL nametag so she could learn her name.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Rinoa squinted at the name tag, slowly pronouncing, "Air-ee-ell. Is that right? It's pretty." She pointed to her own. "Rinoa. This place is amazing!"
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Totally amazing. She wanted to ask Rinoa what might be her favorite part so far, but, of course, she couldn't. So she just fell into looking at her with an inquisitive expression, because that seemed to be working well for her so far. Even if they didn't get exactly what she was going for, the conversation was still pretty good.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
"People keep telling me odd stories but I don't know if I believe them or not," she admitted. "About gremlins in the ventilation ducts and people being little kids. At least my roommate seems nice! Does yours? Did you end up with a roommate? I guess I can't ask who, huh?"
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
She shook her head before she drifted off somewhere else entirely and sort of shrugged again. Weird things she could handle. She was a mermaid this morning, after all...
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
"It's pretty here, though, isn't it?" Rinoa asked, hoping she was following along well enough. "I mean, the trees, and the scenery, and -- the other scenery ..."
Hellooooo, shirtless guys. Very nice. She approved.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
She leaned back in an exaggeration of swoon, one hand to her chest (be still her heart!) and the other hand fanning herself off.
Yeah. Ariel kind of approved, too. Just a bit.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
"Anyone in particular you have your eye on?" she asked, voice lowered as only fit gossip.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
And then she fixed a look on Rinoa, an accusing one; after all, she came up with the question! She must have had someone in her eye to think of it!
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
"He's supposed to protect me," Rinoa said, with the sort of sigh that indicated she found that to be very romantic. "And he acts all mean but he's not, really, he's just not good with people. He's getting better. Underneath it all he's really sweet."
Apparently, Rinoa was into fixer-uppers.
(ooc: people should not keep me on the phone during newbie day! not cool, RL!)

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
It wasn't stalking if the other person did it, too!
"Boys are so ridiculous some times," she sighed. "Have you ever had a boyfriend?"
The girl was certainly pretty enough for one.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Ariel's firm, rallying expression screeched to a halt at Rinoa's last question. She bit her lip, a sudden embarrassed sheepishness taking over her. She shrunk back, just a little, in a way that made it clear that the answer was, regrettably, no.
But, Ariel pulled herself up resolutely, pounding a determined fist in the air, that was going to change.
Well, maybe not a boyfriend. She didn't know if she really wanted a boyfriend. But at least the kiss of true love. That would be all hers.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Seifer was really not the type for 'so, let's define our relationship!' conversations.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
She held up one finger, to catch Rinoa's attention and let her know that she had very important to say.
She pointed to Rinoa, mouthed as precisely as she could the word help, and then pointed to herself. She then brought her hand up to her eyes, as if shielding them from the sun as the looked around , to find something as it were. Then she pointed toward the sort-of-boyfriend, and then brought the pointer fingers of both her hands together, pressing them and moving them back and forth, making kissing sounds all the while.
And if that worked, Ariel was going to seriously consider a career as a successful professional charades player.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
"You ... want someone to kiss you?" Rinoa asked. The other interpretation that had occurred to her was that Ariel wanted to kiss her not-really-boyfriend, and that seemed like a weird thing to ask. "You've never been kissed?"
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
And if Rinoa could help her find that kiss of true love, then Rinoa would, without a doubt, be the best friend that Ariel had ever had and only known for about five minutes.
Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)
Rinoa was big on romance. And gratuitous kissing, as well.
