The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

"Three fifteen," Chuck squeaked out. "So uh, neighbors. Sort of." He was skimming over the 'my room, naked' implication for the sake of not finding himself just gawping at her wordlessly.

Give it a few, and her not right there being her incredibly intimidating self, and he'd be flattered and maybe a little proud, rather than the bundle of flail and 'omg she say wut?' he was right now.

Denise nodded, as she had observed the reaction, and it was good. "Cool," she said, "Not much of a walk of shame, then."

She whipped her head around to shoot a critical look over at the food table. "Now I'm going to forage," she announced, "So, y'know, go poke at your Gameboy or whatever." Look, her purpose had been fulfilled. She had zoomed in on the weakest member of the herd and gone for it.

Now she was going to go and have her hamburger-shaped prize.

"Right!" Chuck nodded, still (unsurprisingly) looking a little shellshocked by this whole encounter. "I will... do that."
