Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

So... yeah.

Enjoy!

"He can't talk or he just doesn't want to?"

"Doesn't want to," Bobby said. "Think he said all of like, three words to me." In a conversation that is yet to happen, but at least that much can be predicted. "Did you get anyone this time?"

"Yeah, Bertha Blythe," he recited her name like he'd memorized it. Which, really, he had. "She looks like she feels more out of place than I did when I got here." And that was saying something.

"Then you're exactly the right sort of person to help her out," Bobby said confidently. "Cause you know what kind of stuff a lot of us take for granted can be weird for someone unfamiliar with it."

"Yeah," Kyle nodded, feeling a lot better about it after Bobby explained it that way. "I think she needs some time before I introduce her to burgers, but it'll happen eventually. I learned about them from the master."
longislandiceme: (grin)

Bobby grinned at the compliment. "The ones at Lacey's, though. Not that Mooby stuff." Kyle knew the difference, he was sure; Bobby just felt this was important enough to restate.

Kyle pulled a face. "The Mooby ones aren't real burgers. The lettuce doesn't even crunch!"
longislandiceme: (thinking)

"I'm pretty sure making that someone's first hamburger experience would put them off of the idea forever," Bobby said solemnly. He took good food seriously, okay?

"I'll make sure it's a good burger. I'll even let the cook know it's her first time," he promised. Burgers were serious business.

"Good man," Bobby said with a nod. "Speaking of, it's been far too long since we've been in for one."

"Yeah, it has. We should fix that. Maybe this week?"
longislandiceme: (thumbs up)

"Whoever sees George first tells him?" Kyle suggested.
