Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

So... yeah.

Enjoy!

Well, now he knew why Jacob smelled like a wolf. That was enough for Blind Seer, really.

"No," she admitted with a laugh. "Derian say a lot."

"Derian?" he repeated, still scritching Blind Seer. Either three weeks at a werewolf had damaged his brain or he hadn't heard the name before. "Is he a smart ass like you?"

"A donkey?" Firekeeper frowned. "No!" He did rather resemble a horse thanks to the magic plague's influence on his magic and by extension, his appearance, but that was not the same.

Jacob laughed and shook his head. "A smart ass's just how you call someone who's got a sarcastic answer to anything you say." He made a face. "Sort of, it's hard to explain. I don't think you've mentioned him before."

Firekeeper was not always sarcastic! Just... whenever she let her fledgeling sense of humor show. "He is a friend from home," she explained. "He were there with the first humans I meeted, and teach me much of their ways."

He never said it was a bad thing!

Jacob nodded and he wasn't even aware he was still petting Blind Seer now. "Do you miss him?"

Blind Seer would be hard pressed to admit it out loud, but he enjoyed the attention.

"Much," Firekeeper shared. "We try many times to go back to our world, but..." she sighed. "We is mostly stuck here."

How had he not known that? And he couldn't help the slight flinch that followed, because that was Morgana's story. Who'd leave (Left? He hadn't seen her since Wednesday and the knot in his stomach made him not want to ask Rose for confirmation.) and not look back.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly. "That must suck."

...And Firekeeper had been at least partially responsible for Morgana finally getting to go home, too. "It is not so bad sometimes," she said. "I have mnay friends here, and there is so much interesting things. But- I do not like that I cannot even get the smallest of news from home."

"Yeah, it'd drive me nuts too," Jacob admitted, tweaking Blind Seer's ear. "I freaked at first when I realized I'm in the future, but I can go back. At least, it works when I cross the causeway. I can hear the rest of my pack like they'd be right beside me."

"Twice, people from my world have been here," Firekeeper shared. "During a time when many had others visit. And once, last summer, I were in preserve and then just as sudden not."

"So you did go back?" he glanced down at the wolf. "And then come back here? By accident?"

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Blind Seer shook his head slightly, and Firekeeper elaborated. "The accident were some others from here come too. Then Truth say she find a portal that will lead back to Fandom, and that I must go too."

"Truth?" he repeated, wondering if it was just some hippie name or something more. "You got no say in it?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"When Truth tell you to go somewhere, you go," Firekeeper said, with a bit of a smirk. "She not take kindly to disagreeing."

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"So who is she?" he took the bait. "One of the humans you met?"

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Firekeeper shook her head. "Truth is a jaguar. She see the future. Or futures."

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. "I'd not argue with a jaguar either. Especially one that knows my future."

He scratched Blind Seer behind the ear again. "And I don't mind that it gave me a chance to meet you two." He was a bit sentimental this week.

She'd also been kind of insane for a while there. But she was better now! "Cannot complain of that either," Firekeeper admitted. "Even if you was very annoying at first." She was nothing if not honest.

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
He grinned. "Good, I was trying to be annoying," he said, having no shame. "Besides, you liked me anyway."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Firekeeper did not dignify that with a verbal response, only rolled her eyes and reached over to punch Jacob in the shoulder.

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
He laughed and while he'd hardly felt the punch, he rubbed his shoulder for theatrical reasons. "Ow. See? You do like me."

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps a little," Firekeeper said, unable to keep a straight face.

"Knew it," he sounded proud and he patted Blind Seer's neck. "Thanks for keeping me company." That was meant for the both of them.
