The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

"LOKI'S HORNS!" she shouted. "This is a disaster of EPIC proportions! I can't let this happen!"

"What, you don't think it would look good?" Hiccup was starting to enjoy himself, oh yes. "A few shields on the wall, maybe a carved dragon head over the door, a couple of barrels of mead...I could have the place looking all Viking in a couple of hours. You could even help if you want!"

"What?! NEVER!" she declared. "The Fandom cafeteria will be free of ALL Nordic designs! By the souls of my in no way Norse heritage, I swear it shall be plain, boring and lacking of any good food whatsoever!"

"My Viking cunning has failed to win you as an ally!" He threw up his hands in mock despair. "And, really, if you want the cafeteria to be entirely free of Norse heritage, the food should good. Bad and boring food is kind of a Viking tradition. Trust me, I know."

"Curses! You've foiled my elaborate Viking plans!" Hiccup was hard pressed not to grin because, really, this was lots of fun. "Now I'll have to use my savage Viking cunning for something else, like discovering how hot water works." Which truly could be the greatest threat the school had yet faced.

"Oooh, rue the day." Hiccup made an impressed face. "I've never rued the day before, never rued anything, actually. Does it take any special skills? Maybe a tool of some kind?"
