BWI Airport, Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

So everyone else had, like, dramatic backstories and reasons to show up here and stuff. Which was fine, you know, if you were emotionally in the zone enough to go to those kinda lengths. Denise had just been, you know, chilling with her dad last night watching some hockey guys really pound in on each other - no, seriously, really get into it. One of them broke a rib or something, which was kinda cool.

Then she'd been dropped off at the airport, gotten a ticket stuffed into her hands, and that was that. No reason to get all dramatic and touchy-feely about it.

And now it was Saturday morning and she was on the airport. Sitting around. Chugging water and listening to her discman while watching the kids down the hall, trying to figure out how they were gonna croak. Sure, there was some kind of shuttle supposed to show up, but it wasn't there yet. A girl had to keep herself busy.

She figured the dweebs starting to mill around the terminal were probably classmates or something. Lame.

[[ wait for the ocd up! ]]

It was about as local as they could manage, really. Especially since not bathing in order to smell like them was in no way going to happen.

Ever.

Blackagar nodded toward their soon to be classmates, looking from one to the other. Only lingering on the ones who didn't quite fit in with the crowd either.

"Well, no, of course not," Medusalith agreed. Then she said in an undertone so the humans wouldn't hear, "I was under the impression their hair did not come in pink."

He waved his hand vaguely, looking curiously at the pair of girls. They looked human enough.

Possibly chemicals?

"Perhaps," she said thoughtfully. "But why?"

He shot her a look of barely retrained amusement. They were simple a people, humans. Perhaps this was some sort of attempt at gaining attention.

It certainly stood out enough for that.

"They're all the same," Medusalith observed. "Maybe that bothers them and they're trying to change it. It would bother me." She wrinkled her nose in distaste at the idea.

The corner of his mouth turned up at that. Hopefully this wouldn't mean her hair would turn that rather... interesting shade of pink while they were here.

Medusalith dropped her bags to grab at her hair in wide-eyed, only about half-joking terror. "That isn't funny." Her hair was twitching a little, and she had to focus to make it stop that. "You're not funny."

Blackagar bowed his head to hide the smile that remained, begging his lady's forgiveness for such an insult to her most stunning of attributes.

It was just... pink hair on her...

If he could laugh, he might have there.

That would be a lot of pink hair. She'd never hear the end of it from Crystalia. "Chemicals, hmmm?" Medusalith said with a teasing smile. "Maybe I'll turn your hair pink."

He glanced back up, mouth slightly open in shock. No noise to give it away, but the expression remained.

She wouldn't.

Medusalith looked at him like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. "I'm sure my lord would look quite striking with pink hair." Then she actually envisioned it and burst into rather unprincesslike giggles.

Turning his nose up, Blackagar looked away. He wasn't even going to dignify that with a response.

Pink hair.

With chemicals.

He'd suggested she might wind up with six feet of pink hair. He'd deserved it. "Well. Maybe not. Unless mine turns pink, and then someone has to suffer with me."

They'd be a matching pair then, wouldn't they? But it would still be dignified, he informed her with a slight nod of his head. They were royalty, after all.

These things were a given.

"Well, of course," Medusalith agreed. "Standards must be maintained." Even while pretending to be humans. Even with--perish the thought--matching pink hair.

There were worse things to be than matching Blackagar, after all.

He offered his arm to her, almost looking shy. Maybe. If one knew what to look for on his face.

Considering that she was her and he was him, yes, she saw it. She was perhaps also a little shy as she took his arm. "This is new," she said softly.

Terribly new.

Letting his gaze slip away from her and then back again, he nodded. They could take their time getting used to it, though.

Away from the prying eyes of the council.

"But not bad, I hope," she added.

At the moment, the council could go take a flying leap off the edge of the city, as far as she was concerned.

Never bad. Never.

Even if they were in a strange place, surrounded by odd little people... as long as she was by his side, it was alright.

Medusalith squeezed his arm a little tighter and said, "I'm not planning on going anywhere. At least until this 'shuttle' gets here."

Even if it would have been so much faster to let Lockjaw transport them there... Blackagar shrugged his other shoulder, not pulling away from her in the slightest.

Hopefully he found something to chew on in the meantime.

"Yes, but I believe this is...expected of us." Medusalith didn't think they had anything to worry about on that front. Lockjaw would always find something to chew on. She just hoped it was something it was permissible for him to chew on. "Besides," she said lightly, "perhaps we will make friends." With the humans. Yes.

As opposed to, say, luggage.

He shot her another amused look. Well, perhaps. If they weren't too uncivilized...
