So everyone else had, like, dramatic backstories and reasons to show up here and stuff. Which was fine, you know, if you were emotionally in the zone enough to go to those kinda lengths. Denise had just been, you know, chilling with her dad last night watching some hockey guys really pound in on each other - no, seriously, really get into it. One of them broke a rib or something, which was kinda cool.

Then she'd been dropped off at the airport, gotten a ticket stuffed into her hands, and that was that. No reason to get all dramatic and touchy-feely about it.

And now it was Saturday morning and she was on the airport. Sitting around. Chugging water and listening to her discman while watching the kids down the hall, trying to figure out how they were gonna croak. Sure, there was some kind of shuttle supposed to show up, but it wasn't there yet. A girl had to keep herself busy.

She figured the dweebs starting to mill around the terminal were probably classmates or something. Lame.

Medusalith, her hair, and a ridiculous amount of luggage followed Blackagar into the waiting area and looked around at what were apparently to be her fellow students.

Moving all the luggage would be so much easier if she could use her hair in front of these people. If she didn't need to get along with them, she would so be working up to a good pout.

Del was staring the the hair, and she decided she loved it. "Nice, um, hair. Pretty. Red. Long hair." She wanted some of it already, badly.

Understandable, but she couldn't have it, as it was firmly attached to Medusalith's head and could not be cut unless she allowed it to be. "Thank you," she said. "Yours is very pink." She hoped that was a culturally appropriate response. "Did you achieve the effect with chemicals, or is it natural?"

What? She didn't know, humans might come in pink-haired!

"It is!" With Del there was no chance on giving a wrong answer anyway. "Natural? It changes when, um, I change? So I don't, um, control it very well."

"Excuse me," Vance said, heading towards the girl the mute guy pointed out. "Are you with the guy with the dark hair over there?"

"Yes, I am," Medusalith said. "He's my cousin."

"Oh, okay," Vance said. "I was talking with him... well, to him, I guess, and he indicated that he knew you. I'm Vance."

"Yes, he cannot speak." Well, he could, but it would be bad. Extremely bad. "I am Medusalith," said Medusalith. "His name is Blackagar."

Those names sounded a little familiar for some reason, but Vance couldn't place them at all. Boy would he feel dumb if he ever found out who they were. "I got that impression. He seems to be able to get his point across pretty well, though. It's kind of impressive."

"He's had...quite a bit of practice," Medusalith agreed. Most of it was with her, though. "He has been unable to speak since birth, so." She shrugged.

"That makes sense," Vance said. "Well, at least I know names, now. Thanks, Medusalith."

"Very nice to meet you, Vance," Medusalith said.
