So everyone else had, like, dramatic backstories and reasons to show up here and stuff. Which was fine, you know, if you were emotionally in the zone enough to go to those kinda lengths. Denise had just been, you know, chilling with her dad last night watching some hockey guys really pound in on each other - no, seriously, really get into it. One of them broke a rib or something, which was kinda cool.

Then she'd been dropped off at the airport, gotten a ticket stuffed into her hands, and that was that. No reason to get all dramatic and touchy-feely about it.

And now it was Saturday morning and she was on the airport. Sitting around. Chugging water and listening to her discman while watching the kids down the hall, trying to figure out how they were gonna croak. Sure, there was some kind of shuttle supposed to show up, but it wasn't there yet. A girl had to keep herself busy.

She figured the dweebs starting to mill around the terminal were probably classmates or something. Lame.

"Well then, how do you know I'm not some evil person here to rob you blind, hmmmm?"

"If you tried that, Squall would kill you," she answered.

Having a knight was awesome.

"Pff. He's wee now. I liked him better all grown up and less model-y."

But, it was fun to make him say 'whatever' again...

"You know Squall?" she asked, curiously. "From before here?"

He hadn't said he knew people coming to this school.

"Nah, he taught here." A beat. "Well not this Squall. But, ya know. One did."

Rinoa frowned, not following, then brightened again. "The timeline's wrong?" she asked. "Like with Ellone? Your past is his future, but it hasn't happened for him yet?"

"...that's actually a pretty go explanation of it," Deadpool admitted. "Are you a member of the Summers family or somethin'?"

"Heartilly," she said. "Caraway, on my dad's side. I don't know any Summers. But Squall's sister can send people's minds through time. It doesn't actually change anything, because she's always sent their minds through time, so it's just making what already happened into something that happens. And there's a crazy Sorceress from the future who keeps attacking people. It gets really confusing."

"I can see where that would be confusing," Deadpool admitted.
