The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

"Well, the Skywalkers are all completely normal," Luke deadpanned, "so it must be the Gilmore in her that makes her odd."

Luke laughed. "Have his products taken over the bathroom completely yet?" he asked. "You're lucky I had a chance to shower before getting here."

"Pretty much," Rory sighed. "I fear the day Juliet gets big enough to care about hers. How have you been, sweetie?"

"It's been a long couple of days," he admitted, "but I have news. Leia's getting married."

"Oh, congratulations to her!" she said brightly, then paused. "Have you met little Leia here? And did you tell her that?"

"I ran into her in the park," Luke said with a fond smile, "and no, it didn't come up. She was too busy trying to pump me for information about other things."

"Yeah, she'll do that," Rory said, sighing. "How's big Leia doing, though? With the engagement and all."

Luke rolled his eyes and put Juliet down. "Long story. She almost went off and got married to this really tall blond prince with a ton of money. Han got jealous, zapped her with this gun and kidnapped her to this planet that was run by a bunch of side witches." He raised an eyebrow. "Um. Don't tell Dad that part. She realized that, no, she doesn't like tall blond princes, she likes Han and now they're getting married in six weeks. I don't pretend to understand how her mind works on this."

"...nothing's more of a turn-on than kidnapping," Rory said, staring at him. "I'll leave that part out for your dad, sure. What the hell?"

"I don't know," Luke said. "I wasn't there and ended up catching most of the story on the holonets. But if I get married, there won't be brainwashing involved. Or rancors. Or women is lizardskin outfits."

"Lizardskin outfits. Why didn't I make my bridesmaids wear that?" Rory wondered thoughtfully.

"Plus I would've looked great by comparison." She slanted a look at Luke, and asked, "So. Does Leia need a blender, or what? I'm kind of betting we're not getting an engraved invitation."

Luke sighed. "Yeah, about that. There are people that will be invited who would recognize him and..." he trailed off. "He's going to be hurt anyway, isn't he?"

Luke gave her a wry smile. "And reasonable works so well on him. Is he around?"

"He'll be here for the ceremony, but he's...shopping right now. If you'll believe it," Rory said, bending down to take a pebble away from Juliet before she could put it in her mouth.

Luke laughed. "The mental image of my father in a mall...disturbs me." He crouched down to get closer to Juliet. "Wouldn't you rather have a cookie, sweetheart?"

"Cookie!" Juliet repeated, for 'cookie' pretty much meant 'BEST DAY EVER!' in her book.

"Don't say that unless you're gonna pony up," Rory warned. "Her tantrums are epic."

For some reason, Juliet did not look as happy anymore.

Probably due to the word 'sand.' It was genetic.

"They're good, I promise," Luke said, having never before tried to negotiate with a baby. "They're from Tatooine. Well, the recipe. Not the cookies."
