The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

"I don't know," Luke said. "I wasn't there and ended up catching most of the story on the holonets. But if I get married, there won't be brainwashing involved. Or rancors. Or women is lizardskin outfits."

"Lizardskin outfits. Why didn't I make my bridesmaids wear that?" Rory wondered thoughtfully.

Luke laughed. "The look on your grandmother's face might have been worth it."

"Plus I would've looked great by comparison." She slanted a look at Luke, and asked, "So. Does Leia need a blender, or what? I'm kind of betting we're not getting an engraved invitation."

Luke sighed. "Yeah, about that. There are people that will be invited who would recognize him and..." he trailed off. "He's going to be hurt anyway, isn't he?"

"Probably, but I'll work on it," Rory offered. "It's reasonable."

Luke gave her a wry smile. "And reasonable works so well on him. Is he around?"

"He'll be here for the ceremony, but he's...shopping right now. If you'll believe it," Rory said, bending down to take a pebble away from Juliet before she could put it in her mouth.

Luke laughed. "The mental image of my father in a mall...disturbs me." He crouched down to get closer to Juliet. "Wouldn't you rather have a cookie, sweetheart?"

"Cookie!" Juliet repeated, for 'cookie' pretty much meant 'BEST DAY EVER!' in her book.

"Don't say that unless you're gonna pony up," Rory warned. "Her tantrums are epic."

"I have cookies," Luke said, reaching into his belt pouch. "Do you like sand cookies?"

For some reason, Juliet did not look as happy anymore.

Probably due to the word 'sand.' It was genetic.

"They're good, I promise," Luke said, having never before tried to negotiate with a baby. "They're from Tatooine. Well, the recipe. Not the cookies."

Juliet was somewhat appeased, and made grabby hands.

"...are you negotiating with her?" Rory asked, grinning.

"Maybe?" Luke replied, blushing. "There aren't a lot of little ones around."

"Luke, she's eleven months old. She'll eat the cookie and she'll like it," Rory assured him. "Don't worry about trying to appease her."

"I want to be her favorite brother," Luke said with a laugh, handing over the cookie.

"I don't think Leia's competing, so you're set," Rory assured him. "Though, um, the hypothetical kids hit us a couple weeks ago and we got a little guy."

Luke laughed. "So is there something you need to tell me, too?" he teased.

"Not to overshare, but you better believe I double-and-triple-checked that," Rory said, slanting a look at him. "He was cute. His name was Christopher and he's apparently Juliet's little brother."

"After your father, right?" Luke checked. "I like that."
