The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

[Up early because I have no control over the internets once I go to work!]

Chuck had been so preoccupied being worried about where the hell Castiel had gone off to, he almost forgot about this whole graduation thing. Lily and Nate both said they'd show up this weekend but Chuck had his doubts. He really didn't think Lily was required to show up, stepmother or not, and Nate was well...Nate. He tended to forget about things that weren't about him.

Either way, Chuck had made sure to be at this little gathering just in case hell froze over and they did show.

Nate decided to forgo the nametags (because, seriously? Were they really needed in a town this small) and decided to brave the dangers of getting lost in order to find Chuck. And, wouldn't know you it, he managed to do it with little trouble. Truly it was a miracle.

"Hey, man," Nate said, immediately pulling Chuck into a one-armed hug. "I managed to find you."

No, seriously, the fact he managed to do that by himself was extremely impressive.

"Nathaniel," Chuck said, hugging Nate tight for a moment before pulling back. He still kept an arm around him as he spoke because for some reason he was affectionate like that around Nate. "Glad you could make it out to the sticks."

Chuck talked a lot of crap about Nate and, when he was away from him, would be the first to admit that he wasn't all that good of a best friend. But for some reason when Chuck Bass was in the presence of Nate Archibald, he turned into a giddy little fangirl who thought that Nate could do no wrong.

It was actually very sad.

Nate grinned at Chuck. "It's your graduation, man. A lot of us didn't think we'd see this day. Well, not without a lot of bribery."

"Proof that miracles do happen," Chuck said. "And not a single bribe involved, thank you."

"Even after that vacation to Thailand?" Nate asked, clearly feeling like that was a joking matter. "They must be relaxed around here."

"Let's just say they have bigger things to deal with around here," Chuck told him. "My absence is the least of their worries."

"Looks like you were sent to the right school after all," Nate said. "Oh, speaking of absences, Lily's not going to be here until tonight. Told me to pass the message along. Something about Serena and some con, I don't know."

Helpful as always, Archibald.

Chuck lifted an eyebrow, but got the feeling that Nate wasn't going to be able to explain the situation well. "I'm surprised she's showing up at all."

"Of course she's going to show up. How long could a Serena problem possibly last?" Nate asked, missing the point entirely. "Even that time she killed a guy the drama only lasted for like half a day."

The problems of the Upper East Side were...special.

"She didn't kill the guy," Chuck said. "She just watched him OD."

Seriously. Very special.

"Yeah, whatever, she made it seem like she killed him," Nate said. "So we've got plans to drink later, right?"

He was bored already. Then again it wasn't surprising considering he had the attention span of a goldfish.

"Yeah, yeah, definitely. We'll go out tonight," Chuck said. "Oh! I need to warn you about something. Remember how this place is kind of weird?"

Nate gave Chuck a blank look. "...yeah?"

Re: Mingling

"Good. I need you to take my word on this," he said. "There's a Dan Humphrey here but he's not the one you know. He's, like, two years younger. Alternate universes or something."

Re: Mingling

[identity profile] worstbffever.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that wasn't computing but Nate nodded anyway. If you didn't understand something, just pretend you did. That was his life motto.

"Uh. Okay then." He really, really didn't get it. "Is he still easy to make fun of?"

Nate liked Dan, he really did, but it was just too easy to torment the guy.

Chuck smiled. "Of course he is. Even easier, now that he doesn't have a Serena to defend him."

"Then everything's good!" Nate said, patting Chuck on the back. "All's right with the world."
