George was reading a book on the Costra Nostra. No reason. But it was interesting to see how other places set up their Rogues' Court. And interesting t'get ideas on how such things could be changed. Did he ever decide he wanted to change 'em.

He wasn't terribly concerned about the end of the school year - far as he knew, he wasn't going anywhere, but the fact that he'd been away from the Lower City for so long made him wonder if he should try to finagle a Portalocity portal no matter how expensive they were. Hm.

"I am," Karla said solemnly. "Some of the seniors are flighty creatures and might forget where they're supposed to be tonight."

She snagged a fry and ate it before adding, "I'm looking for other people in the audience we can grab if that happens. I'm trying to figure out how to convince Bobby to go."

"Me, I'd be watchin' out fer Emma," George said innocently. "She don't keep a thought in her head from one moment t'th'next."

Another fry was snagged as George considered her point. "I'd jus' tell Bobby there's food there. He'll be there in a heartbeat."

Karla snickered. "She was exactly the person I was thinking of, but I didn't want to name names," she said, trying to sound earnest and failing horribly. "Fortunately, Jonas said he was bringing Beka tonight, so if Em wanders off, Beka can herd her back."

Oh! Smooshy fry! Those were the tastiest. "Using food as bait, huh? I'm not sure that'll work. At least, I've never tried such tactics."

There was a statement designed to set off George's gift if there ever was one.

He snorted. "Beka'd jus' bite her pants until Emma does relent. She owes me new pairs o' jeans again." Darn dog, ripping up his cuffs. "We better make sure t'let her know t'be on alert."

The fry she'd taken might be a bit shorter if George's snatch succeeded. "Lass, I certainly would never be accusin' ye of such of thing. T'would never even cross me mind." Really. "But I can assure ye t'would work on Bobby." And him. (obviously)

"Hey! That was my smooshy fry!" Karla protested, laughing, as he made off with a good third of the fry she'd grabbed. "I can see why Beka's been attacking your pants, fry-thief."

Because Karla had never done anything similar, oh no.

"Absolutely," George agreed innocently. "Beka's terribly worried about me thievin' of fries." He smirked over at her. "Anyway, yer th' food thief a'between us."

"I don't know what you could possibly be talking about," Karla said, giving him wounded puppy eyes. "I would never do something like that."

She said, as her hand inched over towards his fries. La.

"This is why y'd be a good rogue," he teased her, reaching up subtly to grab just the edge of the paper his fries were on. Now just before she snitched a fry, he could twitch them all out of her grasp.

Karla beamed at the compliment, happier than an aristo girl who'd just been declared the belle of the ball. "Do you really think--HEY!"

Someone had just tried to snitch a fry.

"And that's why you'll be the Rogue, is it?" she asked, fondly.

"Mayhap a bit of why," George agreed, winking at her. "Have a fry." And the paper was going to get snatched away again, yes.

"But I'd think y'd be a good one did ye wish it."

Oh, she was going to get a fry all right. Rather than grabbing for it, though, she was going to take one with Craft.

It wasn't cheating if you won! Or something.

"And what would happen if I ended up a thief in your Court, huh?" Karla asked, resting her chin on the palm of her hand. And crooking her finger at a fry, which started to float off the paper and over to her.
