Horror 101, Monday
Mitchell wasn't... looking quite as collected as usual today. He was leaning against the back of the classroom, and that was that. In the center of the room were a big stack of fairy tale books, most of them European.
"So I gather you're all a bit busy right now," he started, "I thought I'd get something full of horror for the younger ones. And I have fingerpaints. You know."
A beat.
"Encourage your children to write. Or draw. Or do it yourself. Make something scary and show it off. Enjoy the vacation. And remember - this is how most of us start with our horror. As cautionary tales."
[[wait for the ocd up! ]]

Re: Be Creative!
Most things, in Annika's opinion, were better if they involved tiaras and ponies.

"Have I told either of you two about the time I saw a real, live unicorn? They're not pretend, and they're not just for little kids."

Re: Be Creative!
It probably wasn't much better than Annika's pony. Emma wasn't an artist.
"I went to visit your Aunt Karla and stay at her home for a long weekend. I like it there a lot, because there's more people like me. The Blood can do a lot of things besides telepathy, but it's nice to have people around that understand," she said, trying to draw the unicorn's head. "I met a young dragon the size of a pony, and saw real unicorns, an entire herd of them."
Re: Be Creative!
To her mother, she added, "You never told me the dragon part. Were you scared?"

Re: Be Creative!
"Cara, darling, your Daddy isn't dumb, you know that," she soothed, putting an arm around her shoulders. "He just says mean things that aren't always true, usually to get a rise out of people. Happiness is too real. He makes you happy, doesn't he?"
"Do you two want me to show you the dragons? With my powers?" Please, please, please be easily-distracted children. "It's not quite as nice as being there and feeding a dragon berries, but I can make it close."
Re: Be Creative!
She eyed her mother. "You can do it if you want." Though her tone suggested more than that casual level of interest.
Re: Be Creative!
Still, the mean little girl paused at Emma's offer. Cara wanted to be reluctant, she really did but that was just too much resist. "All right. Just this once."
Well, she had to maintain some level of bitchiness.
Re: Be Creative!
Except her father, but that was not a topic to be discussed around weetiny ears.
Instead she opened up her memories of the day at Fyreborn Islands, showing both girls the dragons, and herself feeding Frawth. <<You know, Auntie Karla is here too,>> she told them silently. <<I bet you could get her to show you more unicorns and dragons and things.>>
...sorry, Karla.
