Library [04/07]

Sam was in a spring cleaning kind of mood today, and was trying to find a balance between re-arranging the things on the desk to be in more useful places, and putting things where the other aides wouldn't be able to find them. He didn't want to make their jobs harder just because he had a little case of OCD.

Chuck wasn't particularly enthusiastic about visiting Sam this week, but he wasn't about to let being a girl hinder him from his normal activities. Besides, if he hid in his room he wouldn't be able to show off the cute outfits (http://www.youknowyouloveme.org/gallery/albums/Show/Season1/stills/110/normal_GG110-0007.jpg) Serena had sent him. That would have just been rude.

He came into the library around his usual time and stood in front of the front desk with a hand on his hip in an incredibly girly manner. "Okay, let it all out now."

Sam knew that Chuck made an attractive woman, but something about the outfit and the way he was standing made Sam stare a little more than necessary. "Still not back to normal, huh?" he asked.

Chuck bitchfaced a little and was going to make a comment on Sam's fantastic observational skills but stopped when he noticed the staring. "...are you checking me out?"

"No," Sam said quickly. "Er, maybe. Kind of. You should be wearing pants."

Chuck looked down at himself. "But I have nice legs."

"Only you would actually enjoy this. Well, you and Dean," Sam said. "Maybe that's why you're not back to normal yet."

"I'm sorry, am I giving away the impression that I enjoy not being able to work and quite possibly being stuck like this forever? Because I'm not," he said, hopping up to sit on the desk just to be annoying. "I merely refuse to not look nice, even in situations like these. It's not like I chose this outfit anyway. Serena's the one that picked out which hand-me-downs to send me."

Sam looked a little guilty; he hadn't thought about how much talking and being present was probably involved in Chuck's job. "Can you tell people you've lost your voice or something, and conduct business by e-mail?" he asked. "I'm sure you won't be stuck forever."

"I have been doing stuff by e-mail. But the more I put off showing up, the more people are going to think I'm on some sort of drug binge or something," Chuck said. "There's a morality clause in my father's will, you know. They think I'm messed up and I'll lose everything before I even legally have it all."

Some part of him knew he wouldn't be stuck like this forever too, but he couldn't afford for this to last long. If it didn't wear off on its own soon he'd have to go and beg to be turned back, which was almost worse to him than losing his inheritance.

"I didn't know about that clause. That's pretty stupid," Sam said. "I mean, I can understand if you weren't treating the business well, but what you do on your own time shouldn't matter. Not that I want to encourage you to go on binges or anything."

"Your non-encouragement is noted," Chuck said. It's not like he needed encouragement to do that anyway. "The clause isn't all that surprising; my father always made it clear that he can't trust me to do anything right. It's just annoying I have to worry about it when situations like this happen."

Chuck sighed. "This isn't all completely bad though, I suppose. I had fun buying a dress for prom yesterday."

Of course he did. Buying clothes was always fun.

"I guess preparing just in case is a good idea," Sam said, unable to keep from smirking. "I'll have to save you a dance."

Chuck rolled his eyes. "You'd just embarrass yourself."

"Hey, I'm not a bad dancer," Sam said, getting more serious after a moment. "And I don't care what your dad thought, you're great with your business, even if you're not dressed like a business person."

Chuck smiled slightly and looked down at his hands. "Do you ever get tired of always having to make me feel better?"

Sam smiled back at Chuck. "Not really. Do you ever get tired of having to make me feel better?"

"No," he said. "Just a little worried sometimes that I suck at it."

"Well, you don't. You definitely go about it a different way than a lot of people," Sam admitted. "But that might be why you're so effective."

"Thanks," he said, his smile getting a little bit bigger. "You're pretty good at it too. Way better than Nate. He kind of always sucked at that sort of thing."

That's because Nate is the worst best friend ever, Chuck.

"I have a lot of practice having people help me," Sam said. "I guess that makes it easy to turn the tables. If you're still a girl this weekend, do you want me to see if I can find a way to change you back>?"

"I'd appreciate it." Chuck had no idea where to even start looking for this sort of stuff. "But I'm hoping I can...coerce one of the people that did this to me into changing me back."

Coerce was the nicest way of putting what he'd actually do.

Sam gave Chuck an uncertain look. "Just don't coerce them so much that they do something worse, okay?"

"It's not like they can kill me or anything, Sam." Lord knows he'd just come back. "I can be very persuasive when I want to be."

When he pings in!

Henry idly wondered who the pretty girl chatting Sam up was, but decided it probably wasn't a question a librarian should ask.

OMG THE TREES AND PLANTS CAN STOP MATING ANY TIME NOW.

We're only at "high" here instead of "very high" like you, but my eyes won't stop watering. D:

I have all my windows closed, I took a Claritin, and I'm still sniffling. D:
