Shop Class #2

As the students walk in, Mac is busy tinkering with a remote control car. He looks up and smiles and gestures to...

Surrounding the room are a series of small bank vaults.

"Today kids we are going to see how you guys do pulling a houdini. You are all going to be tied up with rope and locked in a bank vault that is currently under constuction. Your goal is to get out of the ropes and break out of the vault. If you wish to partner up with someone you may, or you can work on your own."

Each of the vaults have:
safety deposit boxes - filled with typical stuff you would find there
An oxygen tank
A toolbox with your standard tools
A drill ((Not able to penetrate vault door, walls or lock. Can puncture safety deposit box locks))
A chair
((No power tools available. No cutting torches or welding equipment feel free to add anything you might find in a bank vault))
Of course you will have your virtual Swiss Army Knife and Duct tape with you.

For next Tuesday, you will be required to make a homemade smokescreen to use as a means to escape detection. Please make a list of the items you require and we will replicate it here in the Danger Room Shop.

Sam? I want you to come up with an in-class assignment for next Thursday.

Kitty? Please arrange a time to work with Cally to train her on to use the Danger Room Shop Technology.

Open Shop/Office Hours are here today from 12-4. ((Please post in the appropriate response below.))

Sam stands awkwardly in the doorway. "Mac, do you have a minute?"

"Oh, yeah, everything's okay," she shrugged. "I, um, just wanted to know if I could have your permission to keep the Harley I'm restoring here in the shop over the winter. I'm keeping it in the junkyard right now, but it's going to start getting cold soon."

She paused, then said, "I also wanted to thank you for the TA job. I kind of made a mess of things on Tuesday, so I'm sorry for that. But what exactly are my duties? Other than flattering the mullet, of course."

Sam smiled. One thing off her list of things to worry about. "Thank you, Mac. I really appreciate it."

"Good. It's good to know what you expect from me ahead of time. Any hints on the class assignments? And I was going to try and bribe Kitty anyway..."

((OOC: Okay. Just remind me, please. I have a brain like a sieve sometimes.))

"Seemingly impossible task. List of items. Check."

Now all she had to do was brainstorm by next Thursday.

((OOC: Thanks.))

"Yes, sir," Krycek says, pulling out his leather portfolio to take notes. "Just a few questions so that students can get a feel for you, as a teacher."

Pen at the ready, he looks at Macgyver. "To start, could you tell us a little bit of what you believe makes you best qualified to be a teacher?"

[ooc: Might as well get this started while I think on a solution.]

He nods and writes absently as he continues. "Do you believe that these sorts of problems - such as locked bank vaults, how to make smokescreens - are skills that Fandom High alumni might find particularly useful?"

Re: Open Shop/Office Hours

Krycek nods again. "Can we have an example of something special you may have planned, or a different sort of lesson you might be introducing, not in the Danger Shop?"

"Sounds interesting. Is there maybe a statement you'd like to make to the student body, sir? ...Besides the lack of 'u' in your name?" He smirks faintly, pen poised.

Still attached to Cally, Anders approaches Mac after class.

"Mac? Cally and I have a sort of long-term project we want to work on in open shop. There's a sport we have back home called Pyramid, and I want to build a court for it so I can practice. Well, me, and Cally, and Kara Thrace, and whoever else is interested." He pulls the diagram (http://www.dyqatt.com/images/pcourtschematic.png) of the court out of his pocket and shows it to Mac. "And we'd be needing a faculty sponsor too, if you'd be interested . . ."

Sir, we were kinda hoping to... build an actual court. That way we wouldn't need to tie up the Danger Shop every time we needed to practice.

*squeezes Cally's hand* Thanks.

It's what I'm here for. ::squeezes his hand back::

So, I guess we gotta wait for administration approval on this. Tell you what, you come up with a rule book, and I'll talk to the dean about it? He did kinda say he respected me after my last visit, so... ::smile::

Well, I'll make up the rule book. But can I come with you when you talk to him? *puppydog face*

Anders nods eagerly. He's gotten an invitation to explain his favorite sport and he's off and running. "Nope, no ritual killings or embalmings. Some rough tackling, though. It's kind of a mix between basketball, football -- uh, American football -- and hockey. Two teams, one goal, and you can . . ."

He pulls himself to a stop with visible effort. "Right. I'll put together a rulebook. Thanks."

Anders nods. "I can get the protective gear ordered, and I'll talk with Dean Bristow as soon as I can. Thanks, sir."
