Law & Order - Interdimensional Edition: Friday (Week 12)

The students had been handwavily notified to come to the Danger Shop today, and when they did, they would find themselves facing a long row of training dummies.

"It is rare to meet a criminal who is actually willing to be arrested and comes along peacefully," Ziva said. "Sometimes, a small amount of force is necessary in order to take a person into custody - the keyword being small." Using one of the training dummies, Ziva showed the students the pressure points that would incapacitate someone, but not cause them any permanent damage.

"Now, I would like you all to try hitting these dummies in the places I showed you. If you hit the right spot, the area will make a dinging noise and turn green. If you hit a bad spot that would genuinely harm someone, the area will buzz and turn red. Are there any questions?"

Momoko wasn't sure how well these pressure points would translate to monsters, or how often she would get close enough to use them if they did, but she took careful notes. Maybe she and Dinah could figure them into her training?
heromaniac: (huh what)

Momoko's dummy obviously was moving. And it had a rash. And was secretly smuggling bees.

"Ah! The points are all so small! Can't I just knock him on the head or tie him up?" She looked for a reset button so she could start over.

Dinah snickered and tapped one point, listening to it ding, on her own dummy. "But what if you don't have rope?" she asked. "C'mon, you're just being too super-strength, that's all."

She stuck out her tongue at her friend, finally hitting the reset. "Having a yo-yo on me at all times means I always have at least a string."

"And knocking them out like this is still a good first step, and you know it," Dinah countered. "Especially since you don't like hurting them. C'moooon." She jabbed at an elbow point, and Momoko's dummy dinged.
heromaniac: (yay 1)

"I am totally counting that, you know!" She grinned and tried to make the same move on the other side. It was a bit clumsy but she got a ding. "Yay! But still, it's so weird changing from hard attacks at a distance to hand-to-hand."

Ding ding ding ding! ... Dinah really wanted one of these for her very own.

Beka'd brought muffins and donuts, but her attention was on the demonstration. Some of these she knew, but not all. She'd be other here, memorising them and putting the new knowledge to use on the dummies.

Dinah knew some of these, but ooo! New ones!

She might have been scribbling marks on herself in magic marker, to remember them for later.

Max watched Ziva closely, grabbed a dummy of his own, and then very inexpertly and haphazardly tried to hit the pressure points.

With his bullets.

Then he poked his finger into one of the smoking holes in the dummy and examined it thoughtfully. "Mine's not buzzing OR dinging," he observed. "Huh."

Despite her own fun with the dummy, Momoko couldn't help herself.

"I bet you couldn't do it right even if you tried," she taunted. Yes, she was technically making fun of a teacher? But she still held a grudge for that whole detention thing. Although the fact that he hadn't killed anyone but the dummy with his wild fire was impressive.

Vimes spent most of the class somewhere between horrified and intrigued. And wondering if using a cosh counted.
