Outdoor Fitness and Strategy [Monday, Period One]

The class had received an email telling them to meet at the Danger Shop and to bring a set of bathers. Inside was an idyllic beach, probably somewhere in the Bahamas, judging from the clear blue waves and the white sand.

A number of nets with courts marked with witches' hats were set up on the beach, along with a number of balls. "Given the weekend, we'll be having another easy class this week," Bond said, tossing a ball to the nearest student. "Pair up for some pick-up games of beach volleyball, or if you'd prefer to stay away from team sports, you can practice your swimming."

"I should be working out," she said with a frown. Not that she was moving. She didn't know the ball game and she had enough water from where she was sitting. Twas easy to just keep playing with his hair. "I'd not want Master Bond to think I'm a lazy scut."

"You don't think he knows that by now?" Jonas wondered, leaning into her hand and sighing. "I think he knows that. If not, I'll be happy to tell him so."

She tugged his hair lightly in warning. "Don't vex a Dog," she chided him, failing to sound mad.

"I don't even know how to do that so I couldn't very well be guilty of it," he said, laughing a bit. "What if I want to vex a Dog?"

"Why'd you want to?" she asked him instantly. "Or do you secretly enjoy having your ears boxed?"

"It doesn't sound that bad," he said, teasing her. "My ears might do with some boxing."

She wrinkled her nose at him, but she was having trouble keeping from laughing. "I'll give you one when there's no danger of you drowning."

"Do you box ears often?" Jonas wondered. "You sound like you're highly trained."

"Yes," she said solemnly, now tugging lightly on his ear. "Tis a whole week's training for every Puppy."

"Is it really?" he asked, laughing again at both the thought of that and the tug on his ear. "Dogs have strange trainings."

It wasn't, but she'd paid good attention to Goodwin's earboxing. "Yes, but it'll keep you alive in the Lower City, knowing how to deal with coves that are up to no good."

"Would you ever think I'd be up to no good?" he wondered, smiling innocently.

She eyed him and snorted. "Yes, when you look at me like that," she told him.

"You know you're not," she snorted and placed her hand on his head, trying to dunk him.

Jonas didn't actually expect that to happen so hands slipped and he went under, staying there for a moment before he came back up and splashed water at her.

She laughed and brushed some droplets off her shoulder, ignoring that he'd soaked the rest of her shirt. "You're looking more like a drowned rat now," she informed him.

"You sound jealous," Jonas said even if she didn't. "Would you like to look like a drowned rat too?"

"I'm a Dog," she said with a mock sigh and a headshake. "I catch Rats, I'd not want to be one."
