Jono's trip to the library today had been, fortunately, rather uneventful. He'd found himself growing a little more thankful over the course of the week for his inability to breathe... It kept things far simpler.

The fact that he could cook alive any curious monsters that wandered too close for comfort helped, too.

After he straightened his bandages over his face, he set to work, reading the notes on the whiteboard and rifling through the shelves, pulling out stacks of whatever books looked as though they might be relevant for people to poke at and then flicking on the computers so that they'd be booted up (or whatever it was) for the researchers today.

For those who would like to research without the inconvenient distraction of the amazing jawless burning psychic boy getting in your way!

Kyle was back again bright and early, though it looked like he hadn't slept. Having a knife-wielding roommate who was dealing with a breakdown did that you. He came in quietly, checked the windows and then took a seat near the door where he could eat his apple in peace and keep an eye on who was coming and going.

For those of you who don't mind researching with the inconvenient distraction of the amazing jawless burning psychic boy hanging over your shoulder and being generally unhelpful.

It's a Jono thing.

See, Didi liked jawless burning psychic boy. It was how she rolled.

She paused by the whiteboard, reading it before she walked up to Jono.

"So," she said. "Looks like people have been busy in here, anyhow. How are you dpoing?"

[OOC: SP likely, sorry!]

//Better than most, apparently.// Jono shut the book that he was halfheartedly skimming through about unnatural weather patterns, turning his attention to Didi with something kind of like a wry smile in his eyes. //Never thought I'd be particularly grateful for havin' blown my bleedin' lungs out, mind.//

He'd get over that weird bout of 'this isn't so bad' in a week or so, once not breathing stopped being useful again.

//How're you holdin' up, luv?//

"A little stir-crazy," Didi admitted. "Which, yeah, better than most people, but ... kinda hate not having much I can do."

She propped her elbows on the counter and leaned toward the book. "What are you reading?"

//At th'moment, some drivel about a rain of frogs, apparently,// Jono snorted, giving his head a shake. //There was an interesting chapter about th'pea souper that killed thousands of people in London in '52, but most of th'rest of this book is about things that fell from th'sky.//

Which, in Fandom, really wasn't such an extraordinary phenomenon at all, was it?

"Like frogs and fish and stuff?" Didi asked. "That's kind of neat. Probably disconcerting if you're on the ground."

A beat.

"Or if you're one of the fish."

//Frogs and fish,// Jono agreed. //Sometimes birds. Jellyfish, once. I can't imagine that it's at all the same as when food falls from th'sky, here, but at least there are attempts at explaining it away, yer know?//

Which didn't do much good when trying to pinpoint hallucinogenic fog.

"A lot of times people say it was a tornado," Didi noted. "Sucked up the fish, rained them down someplace else."

She gave him a tired smile. "Not really helpful with this, huh?"

//Not particularly,// Jono replied, shaking his head. //Even th'fog in London was just th'result of a pocket of dead air and entirely too many people burnin' coal in their fireplaces.//

He shrugged and shoved his book across the desk.

//I don't think this book is going t'be saving th'day anytime soon, luv.//

Didi glanced at the board again. "I don't think Last.fm profiles are going to do it, either. I guess the fighty people are out there .... doing fighty stuff, now."

She sounded listless, mostly because her storehouse of grinning and bearing it was drying up.

Jono nodded, and then he was making his way around the desk, because right about now, she seemed like she was in need of a hug.

//I feel like I ought t'be out there, myself,// he noted. //But somebody had t'open th'library.//

... Because the librarian wouldn't have, Jono?

"You could ask Mr. DeTamble to do it," Didi observed, hugging him back. "It's okay. You're keeping the books safe, right?"

//Somebody's got to,// Jono decided. It was a well-known fact that monkeyponies were avid readers, after all. //After th'gremlins last time, I don't think I could get away with letting anything else happen to them, yer know?//

It was possible that Sundays just hated libraries.

"You'd have to start paying damages out of your salary," Didi nodded.

The salary he probably didn't get, but nevermind that.

//They'd have to bill me,// Jono replied with a roll of his eyes. //But yes, I suppose I would be held accountable for th'damage, sooner or later.//

The gremlin guts had kinda been his fault.

"No fair," Didi decided, with a slight pout. "Hopefully the fight'll stay clear and it won't come up."

"So I have, like, nothing to talk about," she added. "Uh ... my side of the room is actually clean of once. Clean-ish. Organized."

There'd been a whole lot of nothing to do.

//And my side of th'room seemed t'get progressively worse over th'course of the week,// Jono sighed. //At least people aren't all runnin' about in that fog without masks on, anymore. I can handle life without th'headache, myself.//

When being a psychic sucked, it sucked hard. Try taking an Advil for the resonant paranoia of the entire population of an island when you didn't have a mouth.

"I don't understand why anybody went out after Tuesday," Didi said. Sighed, really, because she didn't like the idea of Jono with a headache any better than she liked the idea of people getting hurt in the fog. "Is Jak out killing things? I think Jaime was."

Jono nodded a little.

//He is. I had to keep him and Tahiri from killin' one another, a few days back. But I think he knows better'n to go out there breathing it in.//

... He hoped.

"They got hit the same way I did?" Didi was trying not to wince. "Oh, man. Bad week to be Jono. Lucky for us, but ... has to have been hard on you."

Jonothon gave his shoulders a shrug.

//Not that bad,// he noted. //Whatever's in that fog, I'm immune.//

To the fog. There was still the headache. He was coping with that.

"So you just get to watch other people go totally insane," Didi pointed out. "I'm not surprised, though. I was pretty sure it's in the fog and, well..."

This was where the Jono-doesn't-breathe part helped.

//And I'm British, and I know how to deal with a little fog,// Jono replied, filling in the blank in completely the wrong manner, entirely on purpose. //Mostly, I've been tryin' t'stay out of it regardless. Monkeys have a wonderful way of dirtying yer clothing, after all.//

Bandages didn't tend to handle washing machines well when you wanted to rid them of monkey poo.

Henry ~~was here all day, honest~~ was in high Let's Pretend This Is Normal gear, puttering about doing everything except looking out the windows.

I think I caught all of the OCD that we need here, today? Maybe I put too much in? Maybe I should have included a thread for the kraken.

The world may never know.

See, now you're reminding me of this scene in FMA where Ed is crawling through airvents and thinks to himself that it's a good thing he's so small or he wouldn't have fit into it. And then he has a major freak out and hates himself for even thinking that.

Someday, I will watch FMA. Truly.

Or read the manga! Just don't watch the new Brotherhood series. The art sucks... Though I will probably end up watching the English version because Travis is doing Roy again and he has the best Roy voice ever and omg hot.
