Magic for Dummies | Period 1 | Class Eleven

The fog and last night's radio had Paige well and truly creeped out.

When her class arrived, she said, "Okay, so last week we were supposed to talk about keeping magic on the down low but we watched a movie. I was going to move that to today, but I think we'd be better off spending our time talking about current events."

She sat on the desk in front of the room. "This fog is definitely unusual and creepy. And based on last night's radio broadcast, it sounds like there is something more going on around here. So let's talk about any experiences we've had so far, either here or back home, that might somehow relate to the fog."

There was a pause before she continued. "Additionally, if any of you find yourselves needing transportation somewhere on the island, feel free to call my cell phone any time and I'd be happy to teleport you."

Bruce held up a droid baby who kept making a clicking sound as its neck tried to turn to the right.

"I thought this was a monster." It continued to click. "It wasn't one."

"Oops," Paige said. "So maybe there aren't really creatures out there? People just think there are?"

"I don't have enough information to really speculate," Bruce said, relying on his detective training to keep his mind open to the possibilities. "I just know that this wasn't one. And that I'm getting a bad grade on my Ethics assignment."

"Maybe your Ethics teacher will understand," Paige said hopefully. "It's interesting that you saw a harmless object as a dangerous creature though. That's good information that you should probably share with some of the people who are researching."
