Griff wasn't in the mood for reading today. He was feeling like beating the shit out someone.

Now, just wandering around Fandom and beating on people was something he realized just wasn't done. Especially on his day to open the library. Instead of going with physical violence, Griff had...acquired a video game console with TV and was busy decimating kids with ugly unis from the comfort of the circulation desk.

He'd put it all back when he was done, but rest assured his hockey team was leading the league in penalties.

Strange as it might seem, Effy could and did read, and even occasionally used the library. She had just been going to dump her book (http://www.amazon.com/Fall-Albert-Camus/dp/0679720227/ref=pd_sim_b_3) in the returns pile and leave, but Griff cursing up a storm at an inanimate object was a little too much to pass up.

"Someone's having fun," she noted. Violent, angry sounding fun.

Griff didn't bother pausing his game as he glanced up to see Effy there. "Beats boredom," he replied, his hands jerking like the controller's motion should help his avatar move. "Go, GO!"

And then a sigh with the complete and utter failure. "You read?"

"Don't sound so surprised." Somewhere between the drink and the drugs, she found the time to go to school and pick up some literacy. How about that? "Brother recommended it."

"You have a brother?" Griff was surprised by this for some reason. Enough so that he turned away from his game entirely.

Effy nodded once, a little amused by his surprise. "... Yep." She didn't always seem like the sort of girl who had attachments, and she didn't have many. But Tony was a pretty big one.

"One who reads fucking weird books."

Griff glanced at her return. "Camus. Heavy stuff." Of course, he'd read in French to appease his dead mum.

"Doing Lit at uni." Which explained a lot about some of the books he'd left in his room when she inherited it. "Think he finds it entertaining to challenge me." Tony and Effy were pretty similar like that.

"So you read and report back on your findings?" Griff wondered. He'd been a dork enough in the past to write reports on things he'd read just because.

"Not quite..." Because that was a little much for her. "Reminds me a bit much of school." Effy wasn't exactly an academic like her brother. Reading was about the extent of it.

"I'll leave that sort of shit to you."

"Yeah." Very true. "Why would you volunteer to spend half your weekend here?" Effy wondered, glancing around the library like there'd be clues just jumping out at her.

She was only here to drop something off. Didn't really count.

"Not that hard, Griff," Effy told him, shaking her head. "Just need to get out more. Maybe stop talking to pixels." Or, you know, cursing at them.

"Never realised you were so much the fighting sort." Alex, she could see it, but somehow Griff... he spent time in libraries and drawing.

Ignoring that reference to '[her] boy', yes.

"Radio does that all for you," Effy assured him. No need for his own broadcast system.

"Get into it impressively frequently." Particularly for two people who were supposedly friends.

"We have our differences," Griff sniffed. "Karev's not so bad, but he needs a smack to remember sometimes."

"Think I'll leave that method to you." Effy'd rather not have to start punching him. "Got my own ways." And her own methods worked pretty well. She didn't think Griff would go for using those.

Yeah, she'd have bet good money on that too. Didn't take much to figure that out, getting punched vs. getting laid was a bit of a no brainer.

Effy grinned. He kind of did, which made it all the more fun for her to tease. "Right." Virginal. Aww.

"Trust me when I say you would," she told him. "Really, would."

So, Kurt and Griff had spent an entire week living in the same room (even thogh they never actually managed to ping off each other in-game), and as far as Kurt was concerned, that made them bestest buds.

At any rate, Kurt hopped onto the desk next to Griff and crouched there, munching on a candy bar and watching the game. "Any good?" he asked.

Uh, there's no reason hockey is on my brain. Swearsies!
