Living With Difficult Women [Tuesday, Period 5]

As students arrived for class today they'd notice that... well, it was laid out a bit funny.

Even by Fandom (and Max's) usual standards.

There were no desks, just a set of chairs. And at the front of the room where one might expect to find a desk for the teacher there were... a set weird looking booths.

Max didn't give them a second glance. "One of the advantages of a classroom setting like this one is that the teacher isn't the only one who has useful things to offer. Each of you also have skills and experiences which give you insights which are valuable to your fellow class members. Usually we share those useful ideas through discussion right here, but on a topic as fraught with peril as the one this class deals with, there are always some things that are better discussed in slightly more private spaces."

He nodded back at the booths. "Each of these is sound-proofed and contains two chairs. I've carefully picked pairs of you to take a few minutes to simply talk privately." Of course 'carefully picked' was pretty obviously code for 'randomly pulled names off the class roster'. "I'm sure you have advice to give one another that you wouldn't want to give in front of all the other students." Max very carefully didn't look at some of his more difficult female students at that point.

"Remember that everyone has to deal with difficult women in their life. Unless they end up living as a hermit, I suppose, but as far as I know, none of you are looking forward to a life of contemplative solitude. So help each other out. Enough of you have spent time around difficult women to know that even the littlest bits of help can be a huge relief."

Max glanced down at the list of students in his hands and pointed out the first set of pairs. "You all pick some booths and get to talking. The rest of us are going to be discussing tricks and tips we've picked up over the course of this semester so far, whether in this class or not, that have been helpful as well as things which would be good to learn more about."

"What are you waiting for? Get to it."

Hannibal didn't actually know if he had any good advice but he was puttering around before getting into the booth, going over what he could share.

Francine was never the talkiest person in this class, but after this weekend, she had less to say about difficult women than ever. 'Hold on to them while you can' probably wasn't the sort of advice anyone was looking for.

She sat quietly, half listening, half lost in thought.

Helen looked around to see who she'd been paired up with.

Jack chose a booth, waiting to see who his partner would be.
