Ethics [Tuesday, March 9, 2nd period]

"I trust everyone's weekends were...busy," Anakin said as he walked into the room and shut the door behind him. "Today we are going to take a break from the seven deadly sins and focus on some of the seven virtues, in particular diligence, temperance, and forgiveness."

He began pacing the room. "On Saturday and Sunday, the island again showed its sense of humor by turning some of us into another people, prompting us to leave chaos and hurt feelings--and perhaps worse--in our wake. For those who transformed, is seeking forgiveness necessary from any we might have wronged? For those who were hurt by the interlopers, is a certain degree of temperance called for?"

He smiled. "And is diligence going to do any of us a bit of good?"

Layla wasn't looking around the room. In fact she was pretty comfortable with what happened to everyone else this weekend.

For once, Bruce didn't seem all that interested in paying close attention to everyone else's reaction to something. He was still a little thrown that an older version of him was a complete psychopath. One who got results, sure, but still. Completely out of his mind.

Zack was barely refraining from just clunking his forehead against the top of his desk and staying there forever.

That seemed like it was probably not a great idea. And stuff.

Effy was keeping a mental tally of people's reactions, mostly because it stopped her from dwelling on her own loss of control. It was easier to brush it off when she was focusing on everyone else's issues.

Bod hadn't changed so he didn't appear to be affected by any sort of aftermath. On the one hand, he considered himself lucky. On the other, there was a part of him that almost wanted to have been switched, just to see what it was like.

Still, he would have missed out on some good things if he had changed. Today, he'd be fine with being his normal self.

Dru wasn't really thinking about the lecture. Instead she was thinking about the owl and worrying about what it meant.

The fact that her father hadn't answered the phone when she called did not help her mood.

Claire didn't really care much about what other people did. She was more worried about the whole Sam being Lucifer thing.

Layla shrugged. "If I went nutty, I'd probably seek forgiveness. And since most of us know in advance this weekend is coming, we should be pretty good about cutting other people slack.

"I'm not sure I'd apologize, but I would try to make amends in some way," Bruce said. "Just because you're not technically at fault doesn't mean it's a bad idea to make sure the wronged party is okay with everything."

"I have to make up for that," Zack said. It was with great effort that he managed to keep from mumbling his reply. "For what I did, I mean. It wasn't me, but... Technically, it was."

In all of the most terrifying ways possible.

"I'm not the only one who can remember what happened. And somebody else... She has to live with more than just the memory of it. She's got to deal with the hurt, too."

"Don't think anyone should be 'seeking forgiveness' for shit they didn't do," Effy said simply.

So no, she would not be hunting down any handwavey NPC's people she might've punched to grovel.

"If it's not them, then it's not their fault and it really shouldn't be held against them," said Bod thoughtfully. "Still, the body and mind might reject that idea just due to the sheer shock of any bad memories but time should help with that. I'd give as much leeway as needed even if I didn't necessarily want to. It'd be the right thing to do."

"It was not me, but it was a me that could be, apparently," Leia said, still subdued today. "I have the memories of what I did, and the forgiveness of those that I wronged makes them easier to bear. And I would want them to know I would never hurt them like that."

"My roommate jumped me and knocked me out," Dru shrugged. "It wasn't her, so there's nothing to forgive."

"I was myself this weekend and I certainly don't expect apologies from anyone who wasn't," Claire said. "But I think there are some things that might need to be discussed."

Illyria shrugged, though it was a calculated shrug. "I owe nothing for what might have been done in this body while my being was not present. No more than the woman born into it would be responsible for my actions, if she still existed."

Calculated because she wasn't about to tell people she'd been an inanimate object with humans crawling all over her all weekend.

Since the professor seemed to be admitting to having had as strange a weekend as so many others in town, Griff was certainly frowning a bit more than usual as he tried to figure out what the hell it was supposed to mean for him and people like him.
