The Club Fair - Gym - Friday Afternoon 2/5/10

It was the day of the club fair, so of course Jean was going to be there bright and early to make everything was set up like it should be. What kind of over-achiever would she be without that?

So, the gym was neatly set up and ready for everyone to arrive and look over what new and old clubs there were this semester.

Go figure, one of the club representatives still had a reflexive distrust of machinery (like the flight simulator), but it'd be much easier to keep under control now.

That might've had something to do with how Tahiri looked a lot more cheerful today than she had in a long time, even if she did look tired.

"You look happy," Leia remarked, wandering over to the Flight Club table.

Tahiri grinned at her. "Hi, Leia," she replied, smothering a giggle when she remembered Jaina referring to Leia as 'tiny Mom.' "There's nothing wrong with that, is there?"

She hoped not. This was pretty astral.

"Not at all," tiny Mom said. "What has you in such a good mood?" She glanced sideways at Ben.

Tahiri briefly debated a vague allusion to things off (or out of) her mind, but she knew what Leia was like when she wanted to grill someone. The middle of the gym? Not the place for it.

"It's a good day," she answered instead, with a significant glance of her own at Ben. Well, it was. She hadn't even gone a full day of feeling like she wasn't two puzzle pieces haphazardly jammed together yet, but it was nice. "Are you thinking of signing up?"

Excuse her for a moment while her newly re-integrated brain broke just a little bit at the thought of possibly having to give flying tips to the future co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon.

"I'm considering it," Leia said. "I've flown a few times, but nothing too fast or impressive yet." Only when she'd badgered her father into letting her take the controls of smaller shuttles.

"The flight sim has a pretty wide range of options," Tahiri assured her. Including that hot air balloon thing, once. Sometimes she'd wondered what kind of spice Gavin had been doing. "Besides, I think you'll pick it up pretty well."

Note to self: throw in a speeder bike simulation at some point. Definitely.

"Sounds like fun," Leia said. "Why not, sign me up."

Tahiri indicated the signup sheet -- hey, at least she didn't Force-levitate it over. "This ought to be interesting."

"I'm a fast learner," Leia promised. "And it'll be fun to get to deal with things of a tech level I'm more used to." The computers and television here were just so primitive.

Ben slid into the chair next to her and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Hi."

Children, you are supposed to be acting official here, not turning the signup table into a makeout zone. Because that argument would work so much better than "the middle of a battle is not the time and place," apparently.

Tahiri scooted her chair closer to his and reached over to put a hand on his knee. "Hi yourself."

"Sleep well?" he asked with over-elaborate innocence.

"Maybe." This was not a competition for over-elaborate innocence at all. Just ignore the mischievous sparkle in Tahiri's eyes. "You have to ask?"

Tahiri's face wasn't flushed either. Really. It was just reflected off Ben's face, since she was leaning over awfully close to him. Yes.

"Best few hours of sleep I've had in a really, really long time . . . and you?"

She didn't really have to ask, but she wanted to. Dork.

"The same," Ben said, laughing a little. "And the longest I've slept in a while."

Having a giant worry removed will do that.

"So . . . are you a hundred and thirty percent sure I'm okay now?" Tahiri teased. "Or do you need to double-check?"

He could have ended up in a completely different quadrant of the galaxy than intended, and Tahiri didn't care. "I wouldn't argue if you really, really wanted to make sure."

He leaned in to give her another quick kiss. "After we're done here?" he suggested.

Tahiri didn't let the kiss linger too long, but she didn't pull back terribly far afterward, either. "Is Dantooine in the middle of nowhere?"

He laughed, happier than he knew how to express to see her joking again. "Last I checked. Are you sick of ice cream? We could try some other food."

The important part was that it was easy to make jokes again. "As if I could get sick of ice cream?" Tahiri scoffed mildly. "I'd like to try something else for once, though. I could actually eat half a nerf."

That was a good sign too, probably.
