Study Hall -- Wednesday, October 19th

Sarah sits at her desk, working on her really sexy Fandom-High-populated Regency romance novel very important principal-type work.

The puppies are asleep in the basket in front of her desk, and anybody is free to pick them up.

Rory nods. "Yeah. People just generally shouldn't get beaten up that bad." She frowns, trying to remember if she had heard Barbossa say something about it when she was in the studio last night.

"Is he the one who got his ass handed to him by Faith?" she wonders aloud, glancing over at Faith. "I thought I heard something about that."

"You think Faith did it?" Angela glances at the tough brunette playing with a puppy. She knows from her reading that Slayers have super strength, but she really doesn't want to open that particular topic, so she shrugs. "Whoever did it ... looks like it hurt."

"So ... if I seem a little out of it, that's why. And, um, I'm not asking you to pick sides even though he's a huge fucking jerk who couldn't give me a break. Really."

"How are you and Logan?"

Rory smiles in spite of herself. "We're good. Made up, all of that. And aparently he has a sister coming to visit for Parents' Weekend. Normally," she adds, looking sidelong at Angela, "I'd wonder why I didn't know that - but then I realized he doesn't know about Gigi, either."

She shrugs, and turns to Angela, laying a hand on her arm encouragingly. "You guys are going to be fine, you know. I mean, it sounds like you just had a fight. It'll blow over. I mean," she laughs mirthlessly, "if Logan and I broke up every time we had a fight...well...you know what I mean. And you guys are so much more functional than we are!"

Angela shakes her head. "It was ... not a standard fight. He basically called me an idiot, and I told him he had no judgement skills. And then he dumped me. Well, the dumping was kind of mutual. But he walked out on me."

"I mean, this school isn't that big, so I'm sure I'll see him and all that. But as boyfriend/girlfriend? We're over. No matter how functional it looked."

A ghost of a smile appears on her face. "I don't even know if he had brothers or sisters. I mean, he never mentioned them, but like you said, that doesn't mean much."

"I'm glad you and Logan are okay, anyhow."

Rory frowns. "Well...people do things they regret later when they're mad. So you never know."

She glances up to the front of the room. "Would a puppy make you feel better?"

Angela shakes her head. "No. I think Min is my room's limit as far as pets go."

"You should go play with them, though. I'm sucky company anyhow."

Rory shakes her head, and goes up to the front of the classroom. She carefully pick up one of the sleeping puppies, and carries it back to her seat.

"Say hello to Angela," she coos at it, lifting its paw in a wave.

With a lopsided smile, Angela waves back at the dog. "Hello, puppy."

She turns to Rory. "He is so cute. Do you have a dog at home?"

"Nope," Rory says, scratching the puppy's tummy. "Wish I did. I love puppies. They're all innocent and cute and silly."

She makes faces at the puppy. "Plus, I don't like babies, and this is the next best thing."

The puppy is so cute that it's almost breaking through the cloud of gloom enveloping Angela. She reaches across the table to scratch behind its ears. "Aw. He likes you," she says in a baby voice, as the puppy sneezes. "You should ask your mom for a dog for your birthday."

"Nah," Rory says, petting the puppy and scritching behind its ears. "It'd get all big, and then where would I keep it? I wouldn't want to leave it in Stars Hollow. Like, unless I got some kind of magic tiny puppy that stayed all little forever, it wouldn't work."

She lifts the puppy out of her lap and offers it to Angela.

"You could get a toy breed," Angela says, taking the puppy. "But they're so ... yappy. And they don't have that cute puppy face," she coos, now talking more to the dog than to Rory.

She shrugs. "This place, I'm sure you could find a magic forever-puppy."

Then she notices the clock and hands the dog back to Rory. "I have to go interview Geoff for the paper. See you later, okay?"
