Anakin, trying to shake off the feeling that he was coming down with something (he very rarely got sick, and this was annoying him), waited for all the students to sit at their desks before addressing them.

"Everyone look under your chairs, please," he said. A third of the students ~~going by how they sign into class~~ would find a bag with a full-sized chocolate bar waiting for them. A third would find a bag with a fun-sized chocolate bar. A third would find nothing at all.

Anakin waited for whatever grumbling there might be to subside. "Anyone feeling a little ripped off right now?" he asked rhetorically. "Two minutes ago no one had any candy and everyone was fine. Now I haven't taken anything away from anyone, no one's any worse off than they were when they walked in the door, and some of you are thinking very nasty things about me. Some of you have more than you did when you came into the classroom and still feel like you've been given an unfair deal."

He smiled. "Isn't envy fun? We never concentrate on the gifts we have been given. Instead we focus on what others have that we want. It's entirely a question of attitude. Today's question: how would someone capitalize on that very human failing if they were seeking to manipulate others?"

"Time has worked differently for me," Anakin said quietly. "My version of you and your brother are in their twenties. I've been married to Rory for almost two years."

"She's from this world?" Leia asked. "You really have made your home here now." She wasn't sure how she felt about that, either.

Anakin nodded. "I belong in Fandom. I can offer advice, but my place is no longer in our galaxy."

Leia had her own opinion on that, but she wasn't getting into it now. "So, when?" she asked.

"Do you want everyone, or just Rory and Juliet?" he asked.

Because really, if it was just going to be awkward, might as well make it incredibly awkward and invite Ben and Jaina along.

If Rory was a wicked stepmother, Leia could use the backup. She had no idea what this was going to be like. "And Tahiri," she agreed. "She's practically family, too, isn't she?"

Anakin choked. "Is Ben that serious about her?"

Excellent overreaction, Anakin.

She'd only meant because Tahiri said her future adult self was practically a mother to her, but upon seeing Anakin's reaction she couldn't resist teasing him. "If I say yes," she said, keeping a straight face, "are you going to forbid him to see her anymore?"

Anakin's face went through a range of emotions, dwelling mostly on the Tahiri that had completely screwed Ben up in his version of the galaxy.

"Yes," he said.

Leia decided at that moment he'd have to come through her to do that. "Well, it's nice to see you don't treat him differently because he's a boy," she said lightly, almost disappointed she wasn't able to go off on a rant about how sexist it would have been to treat her relationships differently than Ben's. "But you don't have to worry. Tahiri told me I'm like a mother to her in the future; that's what I was referring to."

Anakin knew that Jaina hadn't exactly been open about Jacen and Anakin, so he kept quiet as well.

"She seems to be a family friend in a number of different timelines," he allowed.

"Well, I don't have any objection to her being there," Leia said. "But I'll leave that up to you."

"I'll talk to Rory and we'll invite the four of you over for dinner," Anakin replied with a smile. "How do you feel about strained carrots?"

He labored under the illusion that sometimes he was funny.

"You don't look too old to be unable to eat solid foods anymore," Leia said. Innocently.

He scowled at her because only he could be funny, darn it. "For Juliet."

Leia smirked and held back a laugh. "If she likes them, that's fine with me," she said. "But if she doesn't, I'm going to have to take her side on that issue."

"So I'll have two stubborn daughters who won't do what their father asks," Anakin said. He didn't sound terribly surprised about that.

"It's my duty as an older sister," Leia said. "Besides, she may have a few tips to give me in return."

"Once she learns to talk, maybe," Anakin said, "which should be any day now."

Anakin was a little optimistic.
