Junior Achievers Meeting

Outside of Dr. Carter's classroom is a neatly handwritten sign which says:

The door to the classroom is wide open. Inside Angelus sits at one of the front desks. He is busy writing in his notebook. Anyone who peered over his shoulder would see words like "Master" and "slave" in his handwriting. He is also humming a cheery tune.

On Dr. Carter's desk is an open box of peanut butter cookies from Deb's diner. There is also a sign-in sheet.

"The position of Academic Affairs is open again, for reasons unknown to me," Angelus said. "Of course I encourage anyone who has the desire to do more for our fair school, but I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't single our boy Johnny out to see if we can't get him to throw his hat in the ring once more."

"Reasons I can give you," Beka said quietly.

Angelus gave her a look, silently asking if she wanted to talk about it now or wait for a private moment to tell him.

Beka shrugged, indicating it made little difference to her unless he had some reason to want to see her privately.

"I'm all ears then," Angelus said. "What happened?"

"Lilly dared Krycek to kiss Logan. He did. A couple of days later, Jake and Rory decided to kiss in front of Krycek and Logan - a silly revenge prank. They asked Chloe to dare them, and she said no. They asked me." She gave him a self-mocking smirk. "Since we know I can't resist mischief, I said yes."

For a brief moment, anger, hot and bright, flashes through her. Angelus might detect her elevated pulse, but unless someone else knew her well, they'd miss it. She shrugs and blows out a breath. "We played it out stupidly in Spider's classroom. I tuned out after I dared them ~~because I was watching Phoebe for Bel~~ ~~because my mun wasn't at the computer~~. Next thing I knew, Logan hit Jake and Jake, Logan, Rory, Lilly and I had detention."

She sips some [whatever they've got to drink] and waits to see if Angelus has anything to say to this point.

"Saw you in detention on Saturday," Angelus said. "Before they slammed that curtain down on me. Didn't know why you were there. So is that why they kicked you out? One detention?"

"Wondered if that was you. Pardon me for not waving. I was in enough trouble." Again the anger sparkled over her. ~~She wished Bel were here so they could play with fireballs.~~ "Professor Drusilla apparently didn't belive my apologies to Logan were genuine. Or if she did..." Beka shrugged. "Either way, she mind-frelled me. I mouthed off. Not smart."

She ran a hand through her bangs. "Dean asked for my resignation because I got a second detention. For socializing in detention." Her eyes flashed now. "Cally came to sit with me and Anders through detention. I said about six words to her. Detention number two."

"That sucks," Angelus said, sympathetically. "Guess you get to be one of the first to try out the new detention rules this weekend, huh?"

Beka shrugged and rolled her eyes. "I'm sure I deserved the detentions for something. I'm more mad about the stupid reasons given than the detention itself. But talk to me about that again after Saturday."

"Can do," Angelus said. "Anything I can do to cheer you up in the meanwhile? ~~Especially since reading to the blind is now off the list?~~"

Beka studied him. "Mm. I'm sure you could think of something. ~~I dunno. Maybe we could read to the blind together.~~

"I'm told I'm very clever and interesting to those who take the time to know me," Angelus said. "~~Or we could skip right to the naked touching~~"

"I've always found you so," Beka offered pleasantly. "~~You know how much I hate that. Though, I confess I'm suspicious at the sudden interest. Hungry?~~"

"You as well, Beks," Angelus replied. "~~What part of telling me you had no underwear on is confusing you about my interest?~~"

"I appreciate that," Beka purred. "~~There is that. Whatever shall we do about it?~~

~~You could prove it.~~

~~*arches an eyebrow*~~ "Bored with those notes yet?" Beka stood and stretched, showing off a bare midriff and plenty of thigh.

Angelus grinned, his eyes travelling upward. "Might be moving on to sketches."

"Sketches of?" Beka moved closer, as if trying to look at the notes ~~though totally not.~~

"What I spy with my little eye," Angelus replied, looking right at her.

"And do you like what you see?"

*Jonathan tries hard not to blush*

Thank you Angelus, I'm pretty sure I'll be giving it a go. It's important for The academic portion of school not to get lost in the shuffle.

I'm looking forward to campaigning again.

"You've got my support," Angelus said. "Anything I can do, anything at all, you let me know."

"And mine." Beka smiled tightly. "I know what it takes to win the seat after all."
