Study Hall, Wednesday [01/27]

It was Wednesday, and that meant Ziva was back in study hall, keeping an eye on everyone as she read through a book on American History. It was bulky and overly comprehensive and made Ziva wonder how there was still a United States today, but it also brought her one step closer to being able to take her citizenship test, so it was worth the trouble, for the most part.

Ziva peered over at where Bobby is working, and smirked at the plushies. "What are those?" she asked. "Something adorable to help you work better?"

Bobby started slightly at the fact that he'd been caught at fooling around.

"Um," he said, blushing and looking up at Ziva sheepishly. "Yes?"

"It is all right, I will not take them away," she assured him. "I know many people who work better with something to occupy their hands." Like her and gun cleaning, although playing with something soft was probably a lot safer.

"There's only so much math I can do in one sitting before my brain rebels and says it's time for something else," Bobby said with a solemn expression.

"Oh, you cannot have your brain rebelling. You might need it later," Ziva said with a laugh. "Math does not seem to be considered a very important subject here, I have noticed."

"Which doesn't seem very practical-" judging from the expression on his face as he said those words, Bobby was just as surprised as anyone to be commenting on an issue like practicality. "I mean, you sort of need it for like, college and stuff, right? Though I guess there's plenty of people here from places where college isn't really a thing."

"They might not even have colleges," Ziva said. "Even here though, there are many options besides college, and not all of them use math. I suppose it makes me a bad teacher to say such a thing."

"Nah," Bobby grinned. "...Just don't say that where my dad can hear you." Which wouldn't be a problem, since it was highly unlikely William Drake would ever make it to the island.

Ziva laughed. "Do not worry, my lips are zipped," she said.

"Sealed," Bobby blurted without thinking, and then widened his eyes in horror as he realized he'd just corrected a teacher.

Maybe she wouldn't notice?

Ziva did notice, but she also looked more curious than annoyed. "Is that what it is?" she asked. "Sometimes I believe I will never learn all the idioms of your language."
