Study Hall, Wednesday [01/27]

It was Wednesday, and that meant Ziva was back in study hall, keeping an eye on everyone as she read through a book on American History. It was bulky and overly comprehensive and made Ziva wonder how there was still a United States today, but it also brought her one step closer to being able to take her citizenship test, so it was worth the trouble, for the most part.

Ziva had just started a new chapter, and was muttering to herself about idiot forefathers.

Ziva took a short break from the book to refresh her coffee and go through her e-mail.

Then it was back to the book, although there was a lot less grumbling now.

The study hall was open for lunch, but Ziva was not sharing her food, thank you very much.

Right around the time Ziva read the same page four times, she realized there were some very boring periods in U.S. History.

Ziva got to a good stopping point before thankfully setting the book aside for the day.

She was trying to balance reading and supervision, so she could certainly be interrupted.

Aaaaand we're done!

It was Wednesday, so after Drake's class, Bobby was hard at work with the latest chapter of his math text.

...In between playing with the smallest of the Quatchi, Miga and Sumi plushies that he'd acquired as a result of his trip through Locker 327. Shh.

Ziva peered over at where Bobby is working, and smirked at the plushies. "What are those?" she asked. "Something adorable to help you work better?"

Bobby started slightly at the fact that he'd been caught at fooling around.

"Um," he said, blushing and looking up at Ziva sheepishly. "Yes?"

Ugh, math. So boring. But it had to be done. So the plushies had been tucked away and Bobby was actually working.

After her fourth period class, Emma decided that she was going to avoid the dorms and do her statistics homework in study hall. There was less mental-chatter going on, for one, and it was easier to concentrate.

The textbook and her homework were spread out before her, and Emma was happy to lose herself in the progression of numbers across the page. Tasty, tasty, logical numbers. They were a balm to the cranky telepathic soul.

"It is all right, I will not take them away," she assured him. "I know many people who work better with something to occupy their hands." Like her and gun cleaning, although playing with something soft was probably a lot safer.

Unless there was a ~~nosy~~ curious little witchling following the feel of a cranky telepathic soul. Then there was nowhere Emma could go to avoid her.

"See? I told you math was dumb," Karla said quietly. "It's making you all scowly."

Even Karla could tell that that wasn't true. But one didn't start a conversation with Emma by asking about her feelings.

Well, here was a distraction from the math. Karla leaned over and whispered, "The answer is ten."

No it wasn't.

"Really?" Bobby frowned at his workbook, that didn't seem right... he double-checked his work. Nope. Definitely not ten.

"It so is not," he replied with a grin. Never mind that he'd totally believed her for a minute there.

"It's not the math that is making me 'scowly', darling," Emma answered, pushing her glasses up into her hair as she turned towards the ~~nosy~~ curious little witch. "It's whatever karmic gods thought putting me in a class called 'Love and Romance' was a good idea."

"I was testing you," Karla said piously. "Making sure you were confident in your work."

Also, she has this bridge...

Karla couldn't help but grin at that. "Maybe they wanted you to serve as the voice of logic and reason?"

Mind you, Karla was too much a friend of the goddess of love to believe that completely, but if it helped Emma be less grumpy about it...

"I did get named the class skeptic," she replied, almost smugly. "Those that can't say anything nice, can come sit by me."

Karla just grinned. "By the end of the semester, you'll be able to lead a revolt of the unromantics," she teased. "Poor Professor Drake won't know what to do."

"He can concede defeat at anytime," Emma said graciously. "I won't even rub it in that he was wrong."

Too bad she wasn't sure he was wrong, right now.

Spock had his astrophysics materials with him and was hard at work today. So much to learn, so little time.

"So, besides waging war against a demon over the forces of love, what've you been up to? I heard you had to take Jack to the clinic over the weekend?" Karla rested her chin on her hand, giving Emma a sad pout that asked why didn't you just call me?
