"Today we discuss lying," Anakin said as he closed the classroom door precisely on time. "Everyone lies. 'Of course that doesn't make your butt look big.' 'You like her, I like her.' 'I'm totally okay with you moving on.' 'Everything's fine, why do you ask?' It's how the world goes around because no one wants to be trapped in a conversation where someone whines at you for hours on end about how awful their life is."

He looked around the room. "Trust me. Everyone's life is terrible. They're just not telling you about it. Be grateful."

He reached onto his desk for a piece of paper. "Today we're conducting an exercise to see how well you pass this particular social ritual, then we'll discuss whether you think it is necessary. We're playing two truths and a lie. I'll tell you three things about myself and you have to decide which one is the falsehood. Then you'll all tell three things and we'll see how well you can either read each other or keep things hidden."

He gave them a small smile. "I'm very good at this." It had taken him a very long time to come up with things that Leia either wouldn't know or shouldn't know, but that was hardly the point, was it? He schooled his face to absolute neutrality, put his mental blocks up to bar any psychics in the room from gaining an advantage, then said: "I have never lost a lightsaber duel. I hate sand. I can fly any ship I ever sat at the controls of." His eyes challenged them to call him out. "Who's next?"

Ah yes, the ever-fun assistant gig. If there was anything keeping Griff in the room each week it was the responsibility. Even if he prayed no one asked him about ethics ~~which was totally an invite to~~.

Effy didn't necessarily have any burning ethical questions, but she did have those few sheets of drawings she'd... 'rescued' from a certain sale. "Not bad," she told him, sliding them onto his desk. Wouldn't have put it past Alex to bin the lot if no one picked them up.

Griff eyed the drawings for a moment. Karev had gotten his attention with the stunt, but it had more served the purpose of Griff going nowhere near the room since. "Take it you enjoyed the hall sale, then?"

"Didn't actually buy anything." Hadn't needed to. "But it was... different. Not been to one of those before."

Griff snorted. "'Cause Karev collected none. I spotted the 'free' sign, who knows if I've got anything left." Not that he was going to care. It wasn't the first time he'd lost everything.

"Pillow and them, at least," she said, nodding towards the drawings. That was assuming Alex hadn't re-gifted that pillow to someone else later.

"Seemed sure you'd taken off for good."

"What, like he was mad I took a holiday? I figured he finally decided on having a single." It fit the guy's life well enough. This would not stop Griff from knocking Karev out on sight.

"You mention you were taking a holiday?" Sense she'd got from Alex suggested 'no', but... Had to check.

He shot her a look that showed he clearly thought her insane for asking. "It was spur of the moment."

"Leave a note next time," she advised. "Less likely to get your stuff sold to the highest bidder."

Yeah, and because she had an idea that certain other people might also appreciate that. Shut up.

"Right 'cause I don't get it from radio when he blows outta town," Griff returned. Obviously he was missing the part where he'd been moping for the week post his last return.

Effy rolled her eyes. Boys could be so fucking stubborn. "Just a suggestion," she said.

"Good holiday, at least?"

"Only problem was having to come back." Griff sometimes wondered why he made himself, and then he remembered what Alejandra wanted and since she was the only one left alive, well. "Sounds like you were keeping Karev company while I was gone?"

"I was around." You know, once or twice. For a while. "Made sure he didn't get too bored without you."
