Law and Order: Interdimensional Edition - Week One

Gibbs stood in front of the classroom surrounded by coffee makers, his fellow teachers and... Ralph.

"Welcome to class," he said after the students had taken their seats. "This semester we are combining most of the law enforcement resources here on the island to provide you with the benefit of all our years of experience. Except for Ralph. He's here to take attendance."

Right now the trooper was glaring and making faces at Gibbs behind his helmet. Gibbs really didn't care.

"By now you should be tired of introducing yourselves," Gibbs continued, "And if you think that means you get to skip it this time... you're wrong. We're all going to introduce ourselves, instructors included, and tell everyone what we hope to achieve in this class."

Gibbs then pointed at a random person. "You first."

When that was done, Gibbs took his position again at the front of the classroom. "Now that we've finished we're going on to talk about possibly the most useful and practical skill you can ever have in law enforcement. It is not only the most important tool an officer can have but it is a skill that everyone should be familiar with."

Gibbs looked into the eyes of each student to make sure they were paying attention. "Coffee. That's right. Coffee," he said handing out a set of instructions. "Please take your time to review your instructions and then follow them. I and any of my fellow instructors who are brave enough, will then sample your brew and grade it. And yes, this will be on the final exam. Next week, Professor Ziva David will cover how to be sneaky when tracking people. Let's get to work.

[OCD is up!]

"Priestly could probably make perfect coffee, but he wouldn't think it enough of a challenge," Dinah said, filling the coffee pot with water, then returning to the coffee maker. "So, you guys didn't bake for Magic Reserves yesterday?" Please say no. Please. She was there last time.

Tony winced. "I'd never had Karla and Merlin's cookies before!"

Dinah gave him a horrified look. "Did anyone die? Or break a tooth?!"

"I don't think so," Tony said. "I brought cookies from J, GoB."

"You're so smart," Dinah teased, but still relieved. "Any of the new kids show up already? I haven't met any outside of classes since last weekend." She'd kind of had a lot on her mind.

"Kurt did. This German kid from New York? I think he's got some kind of power but he's not ready to talk about it."

"Kate mentioned him, he's her little Sib," Dinah said, placing the name. "She said he did, yeah. So that's cool. Figure it'll take a couple weeks for the even shyer ones to come out of the woodwork." She grinned. "Are you seeing Lee this weekend?"

"No, he's got extra rehearsals 'cause they're moving to a bigger theatre," Tony said. "In a couple of weeks, definitely."

"Boo on the delay, but yay on new theater! It's doing well? Is he getting more reviews?" Dinah asked, then grinned. "And when do the eps of Darkest Night start airing again? I want to know what happened!"

Tony thought about it, then shook his head. "Nah, you'd rather be surprised."

"Tonyyyyy." Tony's ability to make her flail was a constant of the universe, even if the causes changed. "No fairs."

"The new ones are online?" Dinah said, perking up. "And... I don't know. It's more fun to watch them with people," she said, torn.

"Not a sight I'd like to see," Dinah noted, then had to grin. "Maybe I'll go find those, though. How's your week going otherwise?"
