Perpetual lazy ass or not, Loki made damn sure not to be late for his first day of class. Wouldn't want the students they could push him around now even if it was the first class and destined to be a little easier than most other classes.

When the students piled in, Loki was leaning against the desk at the front of room, looking as smug as ever. Once they'd settled, he pushed away from the desk and started talking.

"Welcome to class." See, he was polite? Fuck you, Metatron, he was plenty polite. "I'm Loki and I think some of you have had me before. If you haven't, well, all the better for you, right? If you don't already know, this is People Suck Except When They Don't and if you don't already fucking know that, it's a damn good thing you're here, isn't it?"

It was meant to be a pep talk but with the way Loki tended to talk, it sounded more like an order peppered with curse words. "Now, this first week is always fucking easy, right? We all get to know each other and shit like that. I'm not going to deviate from that template because I wouldn't want to fuck with your heads too much. Brief overview of the class, though. Here, we're going to learn how to deal with all types of people. Your boyfriend or girlfriend, your lover, your other teachers, your parents, authority figures, the annoying fucker on the bus who smells, the person who won't stop staring at you and everything in between. If you don't think I'm qualified for that well, then you're fucking wrong. I've been around for a fucking long time. Ask anyone in here that knows.

He was pretty sure there were a few people in here who knew what he actually was. If he got motivated, maybe he'd even tell people. "But, we'll get to that. For now, introductions. Tell me your name, age, and then label yourself. Yes, label yourself. For instance, I'd be Loki, I'm a lot fucking older than all of you and I'm a smug motherfucker. Easy, right? Oh, and I'll be randomly choosing two of you during this to be my TA's. Better make 'em good. Now, it's your turn. Go."

It took Loki a minute to realize the new sound in his head was Jono's voice but once he'd adjusted, he didn't seem to phased. Curious yes but he wasn't phased. This island was a melting pot for new things. He'd gotten used to them.

Besides, it was kind of fucking cool.

"Jonothan," he repeated, giving the boy a nod. "And British? I couldn't tell that at all. What part of Britain? Been awhile since I've been there."

[commuting home but back shortly!]

//London, actually,// Jono replied, shrugging. //I've been in America for over a year now, though. Probably won't be headed back anytime soon.//

That sort of thing was to be expected when you exploded and left one of the local clubs in a mess of flaming wreckage and your insides.

[Sure thing!]

"London's not bad," Loki said, nodding. "It rains a fucking a lot but other than, not bad. Never was a fan of tea."

And he was getting a feeling Jono wasn't--or couldn't--either.

"People mention the accent a lot?"

Jono hadn't even been a fan of tea back when he could drink the stuff, no.

//Not the accent so much, no.// Jono's effort at looking irritable and unapproachable was upped somewhat, and he cast a look around the room that suggested that if anybody pointed out that it was the voice that was more noticeable, then they'd be the ones in need of bandages. //Not terribly observant around here, I suppose.//

"Fuck 'em," Loki said, grinning. "If they don't want to notice, not worth it."

... Yes, Jonothon definitely liked this teacher.

//Bunch of ruddy plonkers,// he agreed. It was possible that there was a hint of a smirk in his eyes at that, yes. //Th'entire lot of them. Why waste the effort it takes to point it out, then?//

Aside from the fact that Britain was the best place in the history of the universe, and all.

"Good point," Loki agreed. "That effort could be spent doing something a lot better like, you know, punching the shit out of someone you don't like."

Something Loki had done a time or two.

"Though, that might be fun to do just because they don't notice. And if you've got some free time."

//Well, I have been known to get into a good brawl now and again,// Jono mused. //There is something delightfully to-th'-point about tellin' a bloke how yer feel about him with yer fists, after all.//

Well, there was!

"Man after my own heart," Loki said, grinning. "Which means you're a perfect person to fill that other TA slot. It'll be nice to know that someone thinks like me."

Jono had to take this moment to carefully consider the positives and negatives of this promotion.

There weren't many negatives, he decided, and so he gave his shoulders a light shrug and his face took on an expression that was about as close to a grin as it was going to get.

//I can live with that, mate. Dare I ask what such a position happens to involve in a course like this one?//

Please say 'punching stupid people.'

"Fill in if I ever can't make it, curse when someone does something wrong, make sure everyone does their work," Loki started, slowly grinning, "tell someone when you think what they said was stupid and everything in between."

So, punching people could be included.

//In that case, I'm looking forward to it.//

If anyone in the room was going to take a particular sort of pleasure out of telling people when they were being idiots, that person was Jonothon, absolutely.

"Nice to meet, Jonothon," he said. "Sure this'll work out great. Got a good feeling."
