Perpetual lazy ass or not, Loki made damn sure not to be late for his first day of class. Wouldn't want the students they could push him around now even if it was the first class and destined to be a little easier than most other classes.

When the students piled in, Loki was leaning against the desk at the front of room, looking as smug as ever. Once they'd settled, he pushed away from the desk and started talking.

"Welcome to class." See, he was polite? Fuck you, Metatron, he was plenty polite. "I'm Loki and I think some of you have had me before. If you haven't, well, all the better for you, right? If you don't already know, this is People Suck Except When They Don't and if you don't already fucking know that, it's a damn good thing you're here, isn't it?"

It was meant to be a pep talk but with the way Loki tended to talk, it sounded more like an order peppered with curse words. "Now, this first week is always fucking easy, right? We all get to know each other and shit like that. I'm not going to deviate from that template because I wouldn't want to fuck with your heads too much. Brief overview of the class, though. Here, we're going to learn how to deal with all types of people. Your boyfriend or girlfriend, your lover, your other teachers, your parents, authority figures, the annoying fucker on the bus who smells, the person who won't stop staring at you and everything in between. If you don't think I'm qualified for that well, then you're fucking wrong. I've been around for a fucking long time. Ask anyone in here that knows.

He was pretty sure there were a few people in here who knew what he actually was. If he got motivated, maybe he'd even tell people. "But, we'll get to that. For now, introductions. Tell me your name, age, and then label yourself. Yes, label yourself. For instance, I'd be Loki, I'm a lot fucking older than all of you and I'm a smug motherfucker. Easy, right? Oh, and I'll be randomly choosing two of you during this to be my TA's. Better make 'em good. Now, it's your turn. Go."

"Better," Loki said, nodding. "You'll find that getting pissed at me won't do a damn thing though. I don't care that much."

""It's not always a choice," Jacob pointed out.

"Oh, definitely not," he agreed, nodding. "Anger's one of those emotions that you don't choose to be half the time. It's easy to get angry. Fun sometimes too. Just don't expect me to be scared."

Jacob figured he could pull off at least some sort of reaction if he really did get pissed off enough.

"Sure, sure," he nodded. "So is it true what they say? That you're angel?"

"True enough," he said, nodding. "You wanna see the wings too?"

"Yes," Jacob agreed instantly. "Otherwise I wouldn't be getting the full angel experience." Granted, the cursing was a very strange part of it.

Loki smirked smugly, stepping back from Jacob a few feet. He turned though, just to show that there weren't any traces of wings on his back at the present time. He stayed like that, back facing Jacob and waited a minute before the wings appeared, white and pristine, spreading expansively.

Okay, Jacob had to admit that was all kinds of cool. And handy.

"You can make them appear and disappear whenever you like?" he asked, sounding intrigued.

"That's part of the package, yep," he said, giving the wings a little flap before folding them in and making them disappear again. "I can do a shitload of other things but raining down sulfur and causing plagues is generally frowned upon."

"I think I'm good on plagues for the rest of the year, really," Jacob said hastily. There really was nothing to see once the wings disappeared again.

"I was kidding," Loki said, shaking his head. "I'd like to keep my job so I don't go around releasing plagues. Don't worry."

"I didn't think angels needed a job. Not as a teacher, anyway," Jacob said, because he couldn't quite stop from asking the first thing that came to mind apparently.

"Even angels get vacations," he scoffed, shrugging. "If we don't, we get all cranky and liable to mutiny and we don't really need to start an angelic civil war."

"No, we probably don't," Jacob found himself agreeing mostly because now he was imagining angels foul talking at each other and getting drunk at some bar before starting their uprising. He wondered if maybe Loki just hadn't gotten enough vacation time then. "So are they all like you? I'd have imagined them to be more... formal."

"Not all of them. Some of them are definitely like me," Loki said, nodding. "All that shit you see on movies and television is mostly fake. It's idealized. Angels are a lot more...raw."

Huh. He couldn't say that he minded, this was more entertaining probably. "I bet you can scare off a few priests with that."

"Fucking with the clergy is a hobby." And an entertaining one at that.

Somehow Jacob wasn't really surprised to hear that. "Is there going to be a class on that?"

"They'll be included in one of the class topics, yep," Loki said proudly. "I always like to spread my hobbies around."

"I think we're missing the set of wings to pull it off as good," Jacob replied, because well... that had to have some kind of impact.

"We'll see if we can find you some clip ons," Loki teased. "Won't be as good but it'll be something."

"As long as we don't have to wear a white robe." Because that'd look stupid. "What about halos?"

"Fucking halos," Loki said, rolling his eyes. "We don't have halos. Or harps. One of the worst fucking stereotypes every. They tend to get in the way of everyday work."

"Awww, so you're not going to sing for us?" Jacob asked, pretending to be put out.

"You can find someone else to fucking sing," Loki said, still grinning. "Not my thing."
