Study Hall, Monday [1/04]

Summer opened up study hall, taking time to set out an assortment of pastries. There was also coffee, tea and various juices to go along with the snacks.

She helped herself to a large cup of coffee before settling in with her laptop. She also had a book with her, for variety. And if anyone needed help with anything, they were free to interrupt.

[Wait for the OCD is up!]

Emma had reclaimed her statistics books, and couldn't help leaning over his shoulder when walked past and saw the screen.

"Differential, algebraic, or axiomatic?" she asked, looking at the questions. "Either way, my sympathies. Geometry sucks."

"I...have no idea," Roy admitted. "Right now it's all Greek to me."

"Literally," she joked, shooting him a smile. "Well, if you're starting at the beginning, it should mostly be lines and points, which isn't too bad, just hideously boring."
exspeedydotcom: (doing homework)

Roy grinned back at her and said, "Yeah, I did that part already, the first time I tried to take this class? But I don't remember much of it." Heavy drug use would do that to you. "So it's just. Yeah. Back to the beginning. Maybe it'll come back to me."

"What would we call that, then? Subliminal mathematics?" Emma made a face. "As much as I enjoy statistics, I don't think I want dreams of polygons dancing in my head."
exspeedydotcom: (chuckle)

"I don't enjoy it, so those would be my nightmares," Roy said wryly. "Sorry."

"Yes, well, I've already been informed more than once that my taste for statistical analysis is 'weird', so no offense taken," she commented dryly. "Frost, by the way. Emma Frost."
exspeedydotcom: (heck yeah I rule)

"Harper," Roy said. "Roy Harper. Very pleased to meet you, Emma Frost."
icecoldfrost: (Emma is up to no good)

Emma broke out in a bright smile. "Ah, so you're Jack's newest sibling," she replied, clapping her hands together with glee. "The one that hit on Tweety!"

"Tweety. Blonde, bounces, so chipper, you'd swear they replaced her blood with caffeine," Emma replied. "That's the nickname that Professor Mode gave her anyway, and it, well, stuck."

With extreme help from Emma, of course.

Re: Fifth Period

Roy thought it must not have stuck really well, or maybe with anyone but Emma, because, "I still don't know who you're talking about."

He vaguely remembered Dinah's shirt, yes, but it had gotten overlaid in his mind by the part where she was Dinah and the good solid brainshattering that had ensued.

"Lance. Dinah," she replied, rolling her eyes. "Really, did the alternate realities bit break your brain that much? Or did you hit on that many girls already that you can't tell them apart?"
exspeedydotcom: (how are you so crazy?)

Re: Fifth Period

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-05 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't hit on Dinah!" Roy protested, absolutely appalled by the suggestion. "I didn't!" He'd checked her out, okay, before he knew who she was, but he didn't hit on her!

"That's not what the grapevine says, darling," Emma laughed. "But if it helps at all, I believe you."
exspeedydotcom: (I will shoot your ass)

"Well the 'grapevine' can bite me," Roy snapped.

"Temper temper," she scolded, raising one eyebrow. "You'd better get used to it, you know. There's a radio broadcast every night that talks about everything that happens on the island. It's a small school, so everyone knows everyone's business."
exspeedydotcom: ([comic] highly annoyed)

Re: Fifth Period

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-05 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
He rolled his eyes. "If these broadcasts are always that inaccurate, I'm not really worried."

Roy had figured out Emma's type, and he'd had his cheeks pinched by Emma's type one too many times after Ollie adopted him and started showing his newest acquisition off on the society circuit. She was hot, sure, but hot wasn't everything.

Re: Fifth Period

"Excuse me?" A direct thought, about her? Even if Emma had been shielding, she would have heard that. She had a vested interest in herself, after all.

"One - this 'type' was going to help you with your math homework. Two - she also just did you a favor, by tipping you off to some of the stories going around. Now, you can either keep making half-assed assumptions about me, or you can keep a civil thought in your head and realize when someone's doing you a favor," she snapped. "Like this one; FYI, half the school is filled with telepaths. Like me."

"And while I appreciate the unasked for commentary on my appearance, I'm the one doing college-level statistics classes. I'm a smart hot bitch, thank you."

Roy looked shocked for a moment, then bypassed everything she'd just said and went straight to, "Excuse me, did I say you could read my mind? Because you can't. Stay the hell out. I'll think whatever I want to, it's my brain."

"I didn't even have to go in," Emma snarled. "If I was in your brain, I could have just changed your mind for you, without you even knowing it."

"Your oh-so-blithe commentary was the mental equivalent of someone running around naked, in clown makeup, screaming about fire. Ignoring that wasn't really an option."

Re: Fifth Period

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-05 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Look, bitch," Roy snarled back, "this isn't hard. Stay out of my thoughts. They're none of your goddamn business. If you can't filter or whatever it is bitchy psychics do that's not my problem, and if you're going to listen or whatever without telling me you can, eavesdroppers deserve what they get."

Roy turned away and started shutting down his computer terminal, since obviously no geometry was getting done today.

"I'm sorry, I like getting the basic pleasantries out of the way before I announce my genetic status," Emma replied sweetly. "'Hi, my name is Emma, I'm a telepath, and no, it's not contagious,' isn't the best conversation starter. So I did tell you the moment the opportunity presented itself, and lo, I'm the bad guy despite you being the one making snap-judgments about me. How utterly charming."

She grabbed her books and headed back towards her table. "Enjoy your entitlement issues, Harper. You're going to find that a lot of people around here are more than they seem, and not everyone's as honest about it as me."

Roy could shout back 'you should have told me before you read my mind,' but, whatever. She wasn't worth any more of his time and other people were actually studying. He grabbed his bag and headed back to his room, far away from Emma freakin' Frost.
