Study Hall, Monday [1/04]

Summer opened up study hall, taking time to set out an assortment of pastries. There was also coffee, tea and various juices to go along with the snacks.

She helped herself to a large cup of coffee before settling in with her laptop. She also had a book with her, for variety. And if anyone needed help with anything, they were free to interrupt.

[Wait for the OCD is up!]

If Jack wanted to think 'ignoring each other' was the same as getting along, Emma wasn't going to shatter his illusions.

"Because. You make the funniest faces when we make the suggestion," she teased, turning to grin at him over her shoulder. "Just like that, actually, and it's absolutely adorable."

It was close enough to count! As far as Jack could tell, ignoring was second-best to being friends.

"You flatter me," he said, still adorable. "I ended up sparring Rose last time this came up. It wasn't much of a match, though -- I couldn't make myself try to hurt her."

And then there was the bit where Rose was way better than him, but hush.

"You probably couldn't have hurt her, even if you tried," Emma laughed. "Have you seen that giant that she trains with?"

"Her Russian? Only briefly and at a distance, I think. I know I've never spoken to him." Jack was trying to remember; mostly what I remembered was his sense that it was a touchy subject with Rose for some reason. "Have you? What's he like?"

"I haven't actually ever spoken with him, just seen him at the bar once or twice." When she was there with Rose. Who had proceeded to get possessive. Emma found it completely delicious. "Tall, handsome, lurking. That sort of type."
bitten_notshy: ([neu] trust this face)

"I prefer short, handsome, and fierce," Jack said airily. "But tall, lurking, and handsome isn't bad if you're into that sort of thing..."

"I like fierce too," she replied, giving him a small smirk. "Lurking, not so much."

"And how do you feel about blond versus dark?" he prompted.

Toooootally fishing for compliments, yes.

Emma rolled her eyes. "Don't make me kiss you in the middle of study hall just to soothe your ego, Jack," she murmurred. "I'm not that type of girl."

"What kind of girl are you?" he murmured back, mostly to tease her.

"One who might be persuaded to take you out to dinner instead," she replied.

Emma was not above spoiling Jack a bit, no, since he'd gotten dumped on top of spending his New Year with Rebecca picking on his vampire.

"Besides, making-out in study hall is so very tacky. I think you'd prefer a good brandy."

"It is a bit vulgar, isn't it?" Jack had to agree, utterly content. "All right. Dinner where?"

"Gentleman's choice," she replied, leaning back against him comfortably. "We can even go into New York, if you like."

"We can stay here," Jack said, resting a hand easily on her thigh. "Ching Tai? Or is that too downmarket for the lady?"
icecoldfrost: (you can leave your hat on)

"I think the company makes almost anything perfectly acceptable, so long as it's not the burger place," Emma laughed, brushing her own hand over his. It was a nice hand, it could stay there. "I'm free pretty much all week, I only have one more class, and that's on Wednesday."

"Tomorrow's play auditions," Jack said, half a reminder. "I have class Wednesday ... Thursday? Friday?"

"And what if I want a burger, Miss Frost?"

Emma made a face. "If you want a burger, you can eat one on your own time," she replied. "Those things are disgusting."

"I still haven't decided if I'm auditioning this time, you know. I'm not familiar with this play."
bitten_notshy: ([neu] distinctly intrigued)

Jack could have told her about Richard III in some detail, but he got distracted. "How are burgers disgusting?"
icecoldfrost: (bitch plz)

"Not all burgers are disgusting, just the fast food type like the Mooby Burger. If you want an actual hamburger, we will find a place that serves them, but fast food is just disgusting," Emma insisted. "Stale, tastes like cardboard dipped in grease, and served by surly employees."
bitten_notshy: ([neg] finding you wanting)

Re: Fifth Period

[personal profile] bitten_notshy 2010-01-05 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Then we won't do that," Jack decided, easy as pie. He hadn't much wanted fast food, anyhow. "Ching Tai is fine."
