Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

The benches in this section were a little further from the bonfire than the others. If people were sensible, they might want to keep all their clothes on over here, but Fandom, of course, has never been graced with an overabundance of sensible people.

[Please wait for OCD! OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

He rubbed his temple, trying to make sense of whatever the hell she was saying. "You're talking about a different dimension?"

That's what she said, Jacob.

"Probably," she said, in a sympathetic tone. "Sorry. Piece of advice for you, if you want it. Someone warned me before I got here to keep a mantra handy: yeah, it's real, no, I ain't nuts. It helps."

It seemed rude to clean up Reno's grammar, so she didn't.

Jacob snorted. "I think I might have to repeat that a lot the next few days."

Again with the being naive, he'd be saying it for much, much longer.

"The liquor helps, too," she laughed. "The bar in town doesn't card. But there are zombies on stage, so it's kinda creepy at first."

"Zombies," Jacob said slowly. Because frigging leeches weren't enough. "That's got to stink." He had a sensitive nose.

"I haven't noticed the scent," she admitted. "There's a back room, if you're trying to avoid their misguided attempts at music. Nice for a little bit of privacy, if you're into that sort of thing."

Was it possible to have negative levels of shame? Let's find out!

Jacob blinked and was she saying what he thought she was saying? Nah, probably not. Maybe negative levels of shame were necessary to get through to him if your name wasn't Bella Swan.

"I think if you want privacy, you can find it somewhere else besides a bar," he remarked.

"Lots of more convenient places," she agreed with a grin. "But if you meet someone interesting at a bar, sometimes the bar's a handy place to go."

(SP is yay!)

"I can't say I'd done a lot of hanging around bars," Jacob admitted. "I'll just have to take your word for it."

"You should start," she teased. "I could take you out drinking. Just a, hey, welcome to town sort of thing."

"Are you sure you're bored enough to take a sophomore to a bar?" he asked, sounding amused. Granted, werewolf physique made him look a lot older than he was.

"Sophomore?" she laughed. "Really? I'm never too bored to take hot guys to a bar, but that depends on how you feel about older girls."

"I seem to like them," he snorted. Too much. "Got an old spirit and all."

"Good," she beamed. "I tend to go for older guys, but that's just daddy issues. So do you want to go some time? I promise not to take advantage of you while you're drunk and vulnerable."

He had a bad feeling about this.

"Sure, sure," he agreed anyway. "If you don't mind if I stay sober."

"If you insist," she laughed. "No spiking your drink or anything. Turk's honor. Next weekend, in case your classes do require thorough amounts of alcohol?"

"Next weekend sounds good," he agreed. "I thought you said you're from this different world."
