Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

The benches in this section were a little further from the bonfire than the others. If people were sensible, they might want to keep all their clothes on over here, but Fandom, of course, has never been graced with an overabundance of sensible people.

[Please wait for OCD! OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Oh, God. Don't tempt me," Kennedy replied, laughing. "Maybe next session. I'm not dumb enough to do that in this weather, but if somebody else was..."

No, Kennedy. Bad.

"What's up, Elena?"

"Not much," Elena said. "Enjoying the crowd. Went home for break, the usual."

I.e., unrequited pining over the boss, that sort of thing.

"What's new with you?"

Ah, yes, that sort of thing. Not that she knew much about that.

"Good break?" Kennedy asked, and stopped to pop a couple of chips into her mouth. "Spent the first week of mine here, went home for Christmas, then hit D.C. with Tara for a couple of days before everybody hit New York for New Year's. I might be racking up the portal miles pretty quick."

"I think I have you beat," she teased. "Not because of frequency, but the whole dimension-hopping has to count for something, right?"

If it was dimensions. She had no idea where, exactly, Gaia was, in relation to this planet. It was weird.

Kennedy shot her a good-humored look of exasperation. "Oh, fine. You can win that round on the dimensions thing. Tell me you at least got some good partying in while you were home, so I don't feel so bad about you missing out on a bitchin' time in New York?"

"I got to kill things," Elena sighed happily. For a Turk, that was a good time. "Why have we not taken a field trip yet? You'd totally be able to wipe out some Kalm Fangs."

"Nice." Yes, that was Kennedy's envy-face. "That was pretty much the one thing missing from an otherwise perfect break-- closest I think we got was Beka taking off to chase a thief."

She scarfed down another couple of chips. "Field trip, totally. Whatever the hell Kalm Fangs are, they can't be as lame as giant carrots. Right?"

"Try oversized wolf-monsters," Elena grinned. "Ones that drop goodies when you kill 'em."

Ahhh, Edge. Never change.

When that grin crossed Kennedy's face, there was probably a representative of the Watchers' Council getting a spontaneous headache a couple hundred miles away. And it had nothing to do with loot drops.

"I can so take some of them," she decided on the spot. "Just tell me when, and I'm there."
