Yes, Anakin had tried to get in some lightsaber practice before class.

Yes, it had turned into a candy cane.

No, he wasn't very happy about that.

So a very cranky Anakin stalked into the classroom and began speaking. "There's a very famous story on this world, of the lady or the tiger. For those of you not from here, the short version is that there was a fictional king with his own sense of justice: instead of a court system, he had an arena with two doors. Behind one door was a beautiful woman, handpicked by the king. Behind the other was a tiger. If you chose the tiger, you were eaten and declared guilty. If you chose the lady, you were considered innocent and married the lady. The king didn't care about your previous marital status or sexual orientation, apparently."

He began pacing. "One day the king discovered that his daughter had been having an affair with someone far below her station, so the man was arrested and tossed into the arena. Now the princess knew which door has what behind it, and her lover looked up to her for advice. She had two choices: watch her love die, or marry another woman. The story ends with the princess telling him which door to open, but leaves us hanging as to what waited behind it."

Anakin smiled. "Your task today is two-fold. First, pair up with a classmate and decide what the princess did. Then tell me what you would have done in the princess's place."

Yay, story time!

Maron was just going to stare.

That was a horrible story.

Tara rested her chin on the back of her folded hands as she listened. She thought the king's whole concept of justice made no sense at all.

Emma just rolled her eyes and doodled in the margins of her notebook. It was a story. It wasn't true, and didn't deserve to be treated like some actual historical event.

"Sexist $*!^," Katchoo snarled, none too quietly. "And I frikkin' hate that story."

Bobby was sitting and quietly thinking that wow, old-timey kings sucked. And also hoping nobody noticed the fact that the room was slightly colder in his immediate vicinity.

Jonas found the story interesting on a fictional level but, with some the parallels sounding familiar to the way his own people had gotten rid of their kind, he couldn't really make himself want to learn more or even think about it further.

Francine should probably not think Oh bite me where Professor Skywalker could hear her, but honestly. Honestly. This story? This week?

Anakin's gaze swung towards hers, then narrowed slightly as he tapped his forehead.

She stared at him uncomprehendingly for a moment, then sighed. "Not you. Just Fandom. And whoever came up with that story in the first place."

She'd already been that princess, and chosen the lady -- sorry, Arthur -- in more ways than one. Fandom wasn't allowed to do a bait and switch on her and stick a tiger -- sorry, Karla -- behind the door instead.

Karla was in a moderately rotten mood. She was starting to get a nagging sensation that something was wrong. Not when she was currently in love with someone, of course. Then is was all happy and puppies and garlands of roses. But even she could tell she was starting to fall in love with people a lot.

Not that it stopped her from sighing in happiness while looking at certain people of course.

Or occasionally glaring at someone else.

Either way, she barely heard the lecture in question.

Please say normal, please say normal, please say normal... although after listening to radio last night -- and Emma still hated Deadpool, thnx -- she doubted that would be the answer.

Karla glanced up and gave Emma a smile, half-shy and half-dreamy. *Better, now that I'm talking to you...* she sent.

Which probably answered Emma's question far too well.

*Professor Skywalker's okay....Did you want to do something before the play? Together I mean?* Karla's cheeks flushed a rosy pink. *We could hang out or something.*

Okay, she knew she shouldn't encourage Karla, BUT IT WAS CUTE. There was blushing!
