Ethics [Thursday, December 3, 1st period]

Anakin was trying very hard (very, very hard) to look as if he didn't know or care that he was wearing an entire elf costume today.

Yes, he'd set the stupid hat on fire. And the shoes with the bells. They kept. Coming. Back.

"You've had two weeks with your droid babies," Anakin said. "I trust that you've all learned valuable lessons about restraint in the face of lust, or at least the value of good birth control. Now we'll move on to the last of the seven major sins: sloth. Originally, sloth was described as 'an uneasiness of the mind'," he continued. "Apathy. Melancholy. Joylessness. And importantly, the decision not to do anything about it."

He shrugged. "The modern view understands that the mind is slightly more complicated than that and sometimes it is impossible to will yourself not to be sad. Instead, this sin focuses on the failure to utilize your talents and gifts."

He made eye contact with each student. "In a place filled with as many talented people as this one, I can view it as almost criminal to not live up to the potential each of you has. Today, pair up and talk about what your plans for the future are, and how what you will be doing will be helping you in what you might think of as your greater destiny."

He rolled his eyes. "You may also use this time to complain about what a horrible person I was to saddle you with fake children for a period of weeks, if you insist upon it."

"I am not certain about my future," Raven said, a little hesitantly. "I do wish to continue to learn to control my powers and experience emotions." Other things she didn't want to get into in class, like finding a way to stop her father should he attack Earth.

"I don't know my plans, any more," Hayley said. "Other than I don't want any babies and I don't want to go back to Gotham. Any body want to adopt me?"

"So what lesson were the babies supposed to teach if you can't get pregnant?" Rose asked. It had been a question on her mind. Even if that wasn't the exact truth, but it wasn't like she was going to be sleeping with a Moroi - especially since Adrian was the only one around - anytime soon. Or ever.

The second question though. "I've been training for my job since I was a little kid," she said with a shrug. "It's my job now to keep on training to get better and better at it and keep Lissa alive."

It was that simple apparently.

"Not going to happen," she said, shaking her head. "Genetically incompatible with humans and all that. So as long as just lust after humans, I'm good."

...that was something she really needed to be telling her teacher, yeah.

Karla was fairly certain that, by this point, everyone in Fandom knew what her future was going to entail. "I don't think I'm likely to have children," she said, not seeming terribly upset about it. "Even if I find someone I'd want to father my children, these past few weeks have shown me how much time children need. I'm not going to have that kind of time, especially during the first few years I'm Queen."

"Sure as f$#* don't involve sleeping with a guy, ever," Katchoo said, shooting a glance at Francine.

The details were . . . more than she wanted to get into in front of people. Nobody here needed to know they'd had that conversation, okay?

"I don't know exactly what's in my future," Jonas answered honestly. "I know I have a lot to learn and I want to learn everything I can before making any kind of decision about how I'm going to spend my life. After this assignment, I know I have much more to learn."

Emma was going to haul herself upright for discussion time.

"Since this was hardly an accurate depiction of the consequences of lust, I sincerely doubt I'll be changing my current choices in any way, shape or form," she commented dryly. "Besides, desire is a powerful motivator. It pushes us forward, away from things such as sloth."

"I've got college, graduate school, and a hostile takeover to plan. I don't care about 'greater destiny,' I just care about getting what I want."

"I'm going to become the best thief in the world," Parker said with complete certainty. She'd got to meet her future self, after all, so she knew she was going to do it.

Ellie had an idea of what her future plans were. "I want to be a doctor."

She was mostly sure of that.

Francine's elf clothes might make the following sound like a lie or at least terribly terribly mistaken, but she did lift her head from her desk to say, "It's pretty much impossible for me to accidentally get pregnant." And that was all she was going to say about that, yes. "But I love kids and I want them someday, so honestly, I thought the assignment was really fun."

Yeah, pretty much not touching the plans for the future that she didn't have aside from the ones that both began with a K.

Elena shrugged. "My job isn't the type that lends itself to motherhood," she said dryly. "I'll handle the consequences and get back to my life."
