Fencing Club - Danger Shop, Monday After Classes

Edmund sent word out during Monday (and there was a note on the Salle door) that the club session would be held in the Danger Shop. The room was set up like a carnival ground, complete with Ferris wheel, a mirror maze and the other standard attractions you'd find there. Sharp simulations of their swords were waiting for them when they arrived.

Edmund had his own sword at his hip. "You've been training well in a controlled setting. More often than not though, you'll have to draw your sword with little notice in the strangest of circumstances. In about thirty seconds, we're going to be attacked by clowns with swords. I did say strangest," he pointed out. "It's all a simulation, but practice as if it's life and death." Life and death with clowns, yes. "The simulation is programmed to give you an opponent matched to your abilities to ensure a fair fight." Except Zayne's opponent, who was a notch better than him. "Fifteen seconds." At ten, he drew his own sword. "Spread out."

Dinah sighed, then nodded, and considered, then decided no, not leaning on her sword. She might have been swinging it back and forth kind of aimlessly though, watching the clown guy. Yup.

"Whoa!" And that was Dinah going back to two-handed swordfighting there, because ha, that was one sneaky clown-faced duelist. Not able to get her sword back up in time to block, she swerved, eep'd, then ducked, and swung her sword left and high, feeling like there should be player-piano music in the background, somewhere.

"Aaaah!" The slap of the blade on her arm had Dinah wincing, skin stinging, then twirling and doing that fast thing Zayne always did. Whoooosh attempted-slice!

And another blinkity-blink from Dinah, because okay, time to start expecting that outcome, hunh?

"Uh, thanks." She saluted him with the blade, and said sheepishly, "Good match."
