Fencing Club - Danger Shop, Monday After Classes
Edmund sent word out during Monday (and there was a note on the Salle door) that the club session would be held in the Danger Shop. The room was set up like a carnival ground, complete with Ferris wheel, a mirror maze and the other standard attractions you'd find there. Sharp simulations of their swords were waiting for them when they arrived.
Edmund had his own sword at his hip. "You've been training well in a controlled setting. More often than not though, you'll have to draw your sword with little notice in the strangest of circumstances. In about thirty seconds, we're going to be attacked by clowns with swords. I did say strangest," he pointed out. "It's all a simulation, but practice as if it's life and death." Life and death with clowns, yes. "The simulation is programmed to give you an opponent matched to your abilities to ensure a fair fight." Except Zayne's opponent, who was a notch better than him. "Fifteen seconds." At ten, he drew his own sword. "Spread out."

He took a few deep breaths and squirted some water in his mouth from a flower on his lapel, and then straightened and nodded. The clown was suddenly agile, executing a smooth and wily attempt to attack her shoulder.

The clown parried and brought his sword down to sweep in on her open side.

The clown blinked a few times, then noticed that his arm was gone, sliced cleanly off (thankfully with minimal blood due to the simulation). He put the other arm up in surrender.

"Uh, thanks." She saluted him with the blade, and said sheepishly, "Good match."
