Library [11/21]

George was - well, he wasn't really doing much.

He'd finished the library chores fast enough but then there weren't much else to catch his interest. So he was tossin' a ball around and rather wishin' Beka were still a dog so she'd go chasin' after it and bring it back t'him.

Well, here was a source of potential amusement. Karla burst into the library and flew to the desk. "Babies!" she said to George, panting from her mad dash from the dorms to the school. "I need--babies!"

Karla, perhaps catching your breath before speaking would be a wise decision.

Karla gave George a look that would be a glare had it not been tinged by desperation. "Very cute," she said, slowly getting her breath back. "And here I was, hoping you could help me with that."

Out of breath or not, there was no reason not to enjoy light sarcasm.

"Seriously, though. I need books about how to take care of babies. I don't really know anything about them and I have one now. And I'm afraid to hold him because I might drop him or break him or something."

Don't laugh at her. She's truly upset about this.

"I'll have to look you up before we graduate, then," Karla teased back. "Remind you about our conversation in the library."

At his question, Karla sighed and raked her hand through her hair. "It's an assignment for Professor Skywalker," she whined explained. "Teaching us the repercussions of unbridled lust. Because, as a Healer, I hadn't seen most of the repercussions up close before ever getting here." Sulky Karla was sulky. "So I'm here to find some books to teach me how to take care of a baby. I've never actually spent time with one before."

"Amulets?" Karla asked, far more interested in that than baby books. "I make a contraceptive brew every morning, but I've never heard of an amulet that does the same thing. How does that work?"

She followed him into the stacks, looking at all the different books about children. Why did there have to be so many? "Witches aren't very fertile," she explained while idly glancing at titles. "Most of the short-lived witches have only one child, two at the most, so no younger siblings and my only cousin is older than me. And my mother gave the members of her Court leave when they had a child, so by the time they came back, the babies were usually at least toddling around. I only ever saw a really little baby once."

And had dropped her. But details.

"Hi," Didi said, looking faintly amused to see George behind the desk. "I think I need a book."

"Good question," Didi laughed. "I know I need a book, I was just hoping for your expert librarian guidance on which one. Got any favorites?"

[OOC: EEEEE. Not a problem at all.]

"Many things that are not knitting, promise," Didi said. "Got any good books of fairy tales or myths?"

"Where are they if I don't like/" Didi asked, following him. "And how are you?"
living_endless: ([neu] really?)

"That's why I came in," Didi said. "I was hoping to make somebody's day a little less dull, and now I have."
