Sam got to the library bright and early today, even after stopping for a muffin and coffee. As soon as he was set up for the day, he got onto the computer to do his now-daily tasks of searching for Sylar before losing himself in websites full of meaningless but still intriguing lists. He thought about picking up a book, but he knew full well that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on what he was reading. Getting sucked into the internet was, strangely enough, the better option right now.

"My gifts go beyond allowing me to just feel your sorrow," Raven said. "I can ease it as well, much like I can heal the physical body. I can take pain and fear and anger and sadness into myself and dispel it. I have learned that many times it is healthier to allow such emotions to run their course, but when they become overwhelming, I am able to help speed the healing of a heart."

"Oh, I wouldn't--I mean, I'm not going to say this doesn't hurt," Sam said. "But I would never ask you to take something on like that. It wouldn't be fair to you."

"It does not stay with me," Raven said, "and I am happy to use my gifts to help."

"I guess that could come in handy," Sam agreed. "If things get really bad, I promise, I'll let you know. It's nice of you to offer your gifts like that."

"Helping others is the greatest joy an empath can feel," Raven said. "I only wish I could do more, for you and for Claire."

"You said you'll be there if we need you. That helps," Sam said. "You're really lucky, you know, to be able to help others." Not that he'd been feeling useless in the wake of Peter's death, or anything.
