Remus was wearing even shabbier than usual robes today. His normal ones had been doused in aubergine juice the day prior. "Yesterday," he said tiredly, "if you left the dorms at all, you undoubtedly ran into those lovely, enormous vegetables. Now, that's -- from what I understand -- fairly typical of this island, but where we're from, those sorts of results are typical of a charm gone awry. Things don't necessarily have to have dark intentions to cause mayhem, you see."

Sirius leaned back against the desk and carefully scanned the faces of the students. "Though if you were responsible for the giant rutabagas, we won't be angry if you want to talk to us about where you might have gone a bit...awry." He was rather unhappy he hadn't thought to chase Snape through Hogwarts with giant sentient cabbages. He turned his head to look at Remus, eyes twinkling. "As an old colleague of ours is fond of saying, though, CONSTANT VIGILANCE!" He boomed those last few words with far too much vigor.

"Often," Remus added, rolling his eyes slightly. "In any instance, yesterday was so fun, we thought we might try it again." This would be when from behind the desk, Remus levitated a few cages of bewitched, slightly-enlarged fruits. "Well, not exactly. From what I'm given to understand, you need vegetables and fruit. Have fun. Use what you have on you."

Sirius smiled a bit evilly. "Shame we're not in the Danger Shop, really. No traditional weapons in the classroom."

And with that, Remus flicked his wand and opened the cages.

Hello, teachers!

Sirius was lazing against the desk, petrifying fruit that came too close and eating chocolate frogs.

Before class, there would be a blond prince walking into the classroom. "Professor?" he asked, politely, "A moment of your time?"

Merlin. Worst. Timing. Ever. Yes, Arthur was going to complain about this all week.

"May I help you?" Sirius replied.

"I am sad to say that your teaching assistant Merlin will not be able to make an appearance today," he said, cordially, "Because he is currently a bird."

Sirius, helpfully, burst out laughing. "Really?"

"I would find it hilarious," Arthur returned, lightly, "If it wasn't so bloody inconvenient."

"Do you have to take notes for him?" Sirius asked.

"No," he said, "If there is any make-up work to be done, I'm sure you can pass this on to me now, or to him when he gets back to himself. Notes will not be necessary."

"Today we're fighting charmed fruits," Sirius offered. "I could save him a kumquat."

There was a beat. "He dropped a man-eating tomato on Lord Leto yesterday," Arthur said, "I'm not sure that's a lesson he needs, professor...?" Listen, he had never caught Sirius's name.

"Black," Sirius filled in for him. "And you are?"

"Prince Arthur Pendragon," Arthur said, smoothly. "I hope you haven't been too inconvenienced, professor Black."

Black was kind of an odd name for a man.

Sirius was so very glad not to be drinking anything at the moment. Spittaking all over a king of England would be bad. "Not at all, your highess," he ~~babbled~~ replied.

He nodded. "Well," Arthur said, his eyebrow shifting slowly upwards (but he said nothing. Honest. He was going to say nothing), "Good, because he's generally a pain in the neck. What kind of sorceror gets stuck as a bloody falcon?"

"An unregistered animagus?" Sirius replied, barking out a laugh.

Arthur stared at him. "Well," he said, evenly, "Then Merlin is the worst 'animagus' that has ever lived. Which, considering he's the worst sorceror I know, isn't much of a stretch."

Sirius snorted. "You think that Merlin is the worst sorcerer? How many others do you know?"

"Many," Arthur said.

Evenly. Again.

It wasn't his fault that most-- okay, all of them, those he'd known back home, were pretty much dead.

The ones in Fandom were still alive, though.

"You're quite the judge of character, then," Sirius said with an amused grin.

"Yes," Arthur said, giving him a distinctly royal look, "I would say I am."

Sirius's bloodline could be traced roughly to Arthur's era, and looks rolled right off of him.

"Well, you're young still," he declared. "We're all idiots as teenagers."

"Mmm," Arthur said, non-committally, "I suppose some of us are. In any event, unless you have any questions, I will be taking my leave and leaving you to your class."

Sirius nodded. "It was interesting to meet you, your majesty. Give Merlin my best."

Remus was idly stunning fruit that got too close to his position, and keeping an eye on the students.
