Library, Wednesday (November 4)

For the second week in a row, Gabrielle was behind the desk with a distinct frown on her face, but not because of anything she was writing this week; just the front page of the paper she'd picked up to put in the periodicals rack this morning.

It wasn't as if she understood all the details, but she didn't think she needed to, to know how little sense this made. It might be time to seriously start thinking about setting into motion certain ideas that had been percolating for a while now. Maybe it wasn't something that would have much impact on the grand scale, but it was something she could do, right?

[OOC: Gab's around all day except third period. OCD-free today, vague due to a non-cooperative brain, and warnings for busy-day SP until evening.]

Sam had a ton of books to bring back to the library, and rather than bring them all with him tomorrow and risk creating a book explosion, he decided to take some of them in today.

"Hey Gabrielle," he said as he came in, smiling until he saw the look on her face. "Are you okay?"

"Disillusioned about what?" Sam asked, glancing at the paper like it might have the answers.

Sam looked a little embarrassed that he had to pick up the paper to realize exactly what she was talking about. He'd been so caught up in Peter's stuff that he'd barely paid attention to the election.

"Maine is a state that's north of here," he said. "Unfortunately, they're not the first state to do this, and they probably won't be the last."

"I would have too," Sam said, tossing the paper down again. "It's so easy to forget how stupid some people are when you spend all your time in Fandom."

That put a much happier look on Sam's face. "You're right, it would be. I'd like to think that people here know they're not alone, but it's entirely possible that they don't."

Sam, not being quite as sensible as Xena, didn't think anything was wrong with Gabrielle's expression.

"If you still want a partner in this, I'm in," he said. "Even here, as accepting as people are, I think we could do some good."

She was so earnest that Sam found himself feeling even more enthusiastic about the whole thing. "I'd like to think that we're in a safe enough space here that we'd get support from others too," he said. "Maybe that would be a good place to start, with kind of an interest meeting to see who might actually want to talk about this kind of stuff."
