Welcome back to Cyborg Theory.

Last week’s class was very successful as you all tried to work out the warning signs of the true identity of a human-form robot.

Today, you have all been informed that Anakin, Kawalsky, Cally, Lee and Aeryn are human-form robots. What are your varying reactions to this news? How would you react to discover that your close friend, acquaintance, classmate and/or that person over there, omg, was not, in fact, human?

I have places for you to comment with your general reactions, if you have any, and specific reactions.

And for the faux-robots in the class, what would be your reaction to (a) discovering that people know, (b) the reactions of your loved ones to this news.

Please show me both your first knee-jerk reaction and a more thoughtful analysis.

...to your classmates being robots, oh noes!

"I'd be...angry. That they lied." Beka looks at Cally and thinks of Anakin. "Hurt. Very hurt."

She runs a hand through her bangs. "After that... I guess I would try to talk to them. Find out what they wanted. I wouldn't like it if I had to kill them."

What if they weren't lying. What if they didn't know?

"Oh. Well. Hm." Beka looks a bit puzzled. "That would be really weird. Thinking you're human, then finding out you aren't... it would be confusing and scary. I think they might need a friend?"

"I don't think I'd be upset. I've learned to expect pretty much anything around here. I mean, it might be awkward if, say, someone you really liked was a robot, but...just random people? I don't think it would make so much difference, really.

Even if they tried to scam someone. Well, they're robots, right? Robots aren't people. They'd be scorned and rejected by a lot of people because they were different. Which maybe isn't right, and could be a reason for a robot to pretend to be 'normal' right?

How would it be awkward if someone you really liked was a robot? Explain.

Well, I mean, if it's someone you trusted, and you found out that person was a robo, it would be awkward. Because you would have believed he was human, just like you, right? And then...he's not. And that would just be...strange because...

*Scratches his head*

It would just be awkward, because they're not like you. But. I wouldn't say i can't be friends with someone who was a robot, if Iw as already friends with them before I knew. It;s kind of like, if someone is gay, and they don't tell you. Doesn't change who they really are. You know?

*Rubs at his neck, and his cheeks are flushed*

"I'd ask if they wanted to join a support group," Sam mutters.

OMG *sobs* Very funny, Sam.

There's a support group?

"There should be, if there isn't. This isn't the kind of thing it's easy to deal with. It changes an entire world view in an instant. Things that were certain? Aren't. Suddenly the whole galaxy is like quicksand."

Yeah, I guess that would be right... A giant slippery slope would just open up and whoosh... ::frowns::

Wow, it'd really suck to suddenly be a robot.

Sam can't believe that this next statement is coming out of her mouth, but it is. "It's not just that--it's also that everyone treats you differently. Like you're less."

"Or, in some cases," she said, glancing at Eighth, "like you're more. Like you're without fault. That's a lot of pressure to put on someone whose life has just been turned upside down."

Weird. I just sorta figured it'd either stay normal, or it'd be torch and pitchforks time. ::chews on her lower lip::

"Well, sometimes it can be either of those things," Sam said, shrugging. "But sometimes you have to learn how to adapt--which is something that most human-form ~~replicators~~ cyborgs have the greatest amount of difficulty doing."

Man, if John could hear her now, he'd probably shoot her on the spot. For that matter, so might Jack.

Yeah, I guess there's always a learning curve. I mean, you have to get used to different things, when they happen, like, moving somewhere and stuff.

That makes total sense. ::nods::

[Not shoot her per say, just in her general direction.]

[Oh, yeah, cause that makes her feel better. It's truly a comfort.]

[Just to scare her.]

Obviously, they have some sort of plan, and we must discover what it is ~~and what part I play in it~~.
