Anyone Can Cook | Period 4 | 10.06

There was a large projector set up in the front of the classroom, and Colette's chef whites were spotless, as if they were armor against anything that might seem awry.
"Bonjour," she said. "Today we will conference in with some friends of mine in Paris, Alfredo Linguini and his ... and Remy."

No, she still couldn't admit Remy was a rat out loud.

"I admit Remy's form is a bit unusual, but this dish is his specialty. I would not want to make ratatouille for class without his supervision."

With that warning, she hit a projector button and came up with an image of a gangly redheaded man with a gray rat balanced on his head. "Hi, I'm Linguini," the redhead said, grinning at Colette a little nervously. The rat waved. "Ready to go, Colette?"

"Always," she said, hoping nothing would go wrong.

The rat sprang into action, jumping here, grabbing Linguini's hand to make him chop one thing or stir another, tossing a rat-sized armful of herbs into the pot. The final project came out of the oven looking something like this."

"And so," Colette said, when they were done, "Ratatouille. I do not say 'anyone can cook' lightly. You have recipes similar to Remy's. Begin."

Rats. Some of Helen's favorite things. Truly. Still she'd never seen one that could cook.

You know what helps a lot when you're dreading a class because your mother's alter talked to the teacher and you have no idea what they might've discussed?

Seeing a rat cook. Even if it was only on a screen.

So, here was Kate, staring.

Joan was staring too.

Though she did glance over at Kate. "Only in Fandom, right?"
vanillajello: (What the hell are you saying?)

"...Yeah. Only in Fandom," Kate nodded, managing to pry her eyes away from Remy for a quick glance at Joan.

"How was your weekend?" Joan asked.
vanillajello: (Talking.)

Kate considered a few different words, the settled on one that was vague but accurate.

"Stressful. Yours?"

"Odd," summed up Joan's weekend best, between stopping a mind controlled wedding and Liir's not-so-dead mother.
vanillajello: (Smiling.)

"I'm pretty sure we just summed up the weekend for most of us," Kate noted with a smirk.

Joan snickered. "I think you're probably right."
vanillajello: (Talking to Ben.)

"Anyone whose weekend wasn't stressful or odd should... turn into rats or something."

"But, see, things like that aren't so unusual around here," she pointed out.

"Doesn't matter, I just want them to be vaguely uncomfortable," Kate replied.

Priestly was pretty sure the rat cooking was the coolest thing he'd ever seen.

So a restaurant had a Rat as a chef?

Interesting. He supposed it made enough sense. Or he would have if he could work up any enthusiasm.

Okay. It was a rat.

But it was pretty darn cute for a rat.

The only time Kyle had seen a rat involved with cooking was when it was the meal. He watched carefully. It looked like an involved dish.
