Library [09/24]

Instead of his usual trip through the shelves to find something to read all day, Sam settled in at the desk with his script for the play. He was going to have to memorize his lines quickly if he wanted to be able to do things like learn how not to trip over his own feet on stage.

Sam was one with his highlighter as he went through the script and marked all the lines and directions he needed to pay attention to.

Sam was taking a temporary break from his script reading to check his e-mail, and to make sure that his travel arrangements were still set for going to visit Peter tomorrow.

...and then it was back to looking through his script.

Sam didn't bother to close the library for lunch, although he did go back to the computer to look through some blogs.

Sam was back at the desk, now with a different colored highlighter. He was kind of surprised by how excited he was getting about the play.

Sam stuck around until the very end of the period, in case anyone needed something at the last minute.

*pokes the internet at large* Oh Gmail and LJ, do not forsake me!

At some point during second period, Claire showed up with coffee for Sam.

"Morning!" she greeted cheerfully, as if she hadn't tried playing tricks on him yesterday.

Chuck had an extremely good day yesterday and the good mood carried over to today. You could tell because he was looking even more smug than usual. Yes, that was possible.

"Surfing for porn?" he asked as he sat down a bag of food on the desk.

"Good morning," Sam said, grinning at her. "How's it going?"

"Considering what I'm finding about you, that might actually be an accurate description," Sam said. "How are you not a walking STD?"

"It's been a good week so far," Claire said. "How about you? Ready for your trip?"

"Condoms and an excellent eye for clean men and women," Chuck said, pulling a Diet Coke out of the bag and cracking it open. "Why, what have you discovered so far about my deep dark past?"

Andy stopped by at his usual time to return books and take out more.

"You know you can get kinda high off some highlighters," he observed.

"Very ready," Sam said. "I can't wait to see Peter in person again. Over the phone just isn't the same."

Claire nodded. "Yeah, I talked to him the other day and he was pretty excited."

"You really think an Amsterdam brothel is a place of clean women?" Sam asked, going with his most recent discovery.

"Why am I not surprised that you know that?" Sam asked.

"Well I don't know for sure, I got kicked out before I could try any of the merchandise," Chuck said. "But some of those places can be quite classy."

Somehow, Sam managed to perk up even more. "He was?"

Andy shrugged good naturedly. "I thought everybody knew that. Doesn't everyone sniff their markers when they're kids?"

"Why wouldn't he be?" she asked. "But, listen, can you do me a favor while you're there?"

"I don't know. I guess I shouldn't be surprised," Sam said. "Sure, I can do you a favor. What's up?"

"Or quite dangerous," Sam said. "Also, do you have issues with having sex with only one person at a time?"

"Make sure Peter is being careful," Claire said. "I'm still worried about something bad happening to him."

She bit her lip. "The bad thing that happened in my world? Happened after Nathan's election. So even though the timeline is so different, I'm worried. But I haven't told Peter or Nathan when it happened."
