"Today we talk about envy," Anakin said quietly. "There's always something that someone else seems to have that we want: clothing, grades, family, love, looks, acclaim...their achievements remind us of something we don't think we have enough of." He began pacing as he warmed to his subject. "A wise man once said that envy is the art of counting the other person's blessings instead of your own. An entire industry has sprung up and flourished exploiting the idea that we envy those who have achieved fame." Anakin made a face. "With the equally charming dark side that we'll take joy in watching their failures."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "So today, like the squirrels of the radio, we'll be gossip mongers. Come up with a story about one of the people in this class, in the school, or on the island. It doesn't have to be true. It just has to be something that would get people's attention. Then pass it on. We'll see the ramifications of envy for ourselves."

He was kind of counting on the students choosing to start rumors about people they didn't like. He knew human nature that way.

"Someone in this class has a pair of leopard print leather chaps," Rose said, trying so hard not to crack up as she said that.

Karla, in a positively scintillating mood now that she was a female again, happily took up that line.

"What was that?" she asked in a voice pitched to carry. "Did you say Bobby Drake had leopard print chaps? Or that he had a feather white ass?"

She had no idea what either of those were supposed to mean, but they were fun to say anyway.

"You should see the tattoo on his feather-white ass," Elena smirked. "It's crazy."

Rose smirked over at the other girl, figuring she wouldn't mind. "Elena had a close encounter with the tattoo on Bobby Drake's ass."

"Bobby Drake likes to moon people?" Tara was only mostly feigning her shock.

"Aw, man," Bobby complained dramatically. "I guess my secret about me being from the moon is out."

"Uh ... Fiona, Fiona Post leaves socks on the floor." Tara figured she could make it up to her roommate later. Possibly with baked goods.

Rose looked up. "I heard they weren't her own socks she was leaving down there."

Elena gasped. "Fiona steals socks?!"

Well, hell, since no one else was doing it.

"That Azula chick is secretly dating Ben Skywalker," Rose said innocently.

"Azula's been sending nude pictures to Ben Skywalker?" Elena gasped. "No."

"Totally dirty nude pictures," Rose filled her in. "I was shocked to hear it."

"Rose Hathaway wants to be a ballerina princess."

Rose eyed Kyle. Uh huh. "Kyle Reese sleeps with a teddy bear."

"Why's it called a teddy bear?" Way to ruin it, Kyle.

"Cause they named it after an old President called Teddy," Rose said. What? She's JUST had that class in history. "And he, like, didn't kill a bear so they named the stuffed ones after him."

"He didn't kill a bear," Kyle repeated. "Was not doing stuff an important event in the past?"

"It might've been a really cute bear?" she suggested. "I dunno. He did a lot of other stuff. Like kill like 20,000 animals."

"But the not killing was the one they decided to remember. History is crazy."

"You're not lyin'," Rose agreed. "And you still totally sleep with one."

"Not anymore I don't," he said simply. He'd lost his bear a long time ago. Cue sad music. "But you'll always want to be a ballerina princess. With the frilly pink skirt."

Yuffie smirked and relaxed in her seat. "Elena has an unhealthy obsession with this evil happy kitty thing."

"Yuffie likes dog collars," Elena volunteered with a grin.

Yuffie just grinned. "Elena likes riding crops and whips."

Wait, weren't these suppose to be rumors?
